Donovan scored the Algeria goal but Bradley was the best US player in South Africa.

I'm severely disappointed by our performance tonight. We came out the gate getting crushed, and gave up an early goal. We started fighting back and evened it up.
The entire second half we went back to looking terrible. Awful passes, no ideas, no creativity. Awful touches. Just a terrible match for us. Belgium is still a good squad, but we played under our ceiling by miles.
ETA: The Freese frick up didn't help. I felt like a deflated balloon after that happened.

I know it's sarcasm but seriously, stick around for the ride. I started following us soccer ages ago after I joined my high school soccer team.
It's come a long way in the last 10-15 years - MLS has about the highest ceiling of any league on earth, other than the Premier League. And thanks to the increasingly well funded academies, we are producing multiple times over the talent that 2000s-2010s US soccer was producing.
Just have to keep getting better though if we're even getting past the round of 16

We still had almost no shots. I think he got thoroughly outcoached.
Our team wasn’t moving man. It was shocking. We looked paralyzed.
This one wasn’t on Poch.

He pulled Dest and put Gio and changed the formation. We had all the momentum until the Goal Keeper and Ream went full retard.
2022 redux
Pull Ferreira at half time, insert Gio, change formation, have moments of promise but ultimately doomed by individual lapses.

When your captain CB (who should’ve never been the captain) gets bodied on goal #2 that’s a bad sign.

Belgium is a top 10 ranked team in the world. They're #9.
US is ranked 17th. We were the underdogs tonight, not them.
And like I said: the boys were starting to take control of the game after half, Belgium starting to park the bus because of the pressure the US was increasingly putting on their 1/3.
And then Freese made the worst mistake in USMNT history and all the steam left the boys. Belgium was able to take control back and the US was completely disheartened.
Berhalter gave them some fight, but it was too late. Poch should have subbed him in right after the 3rd goal.
On every team there's the most talented guy, the most respected guy, and the most inspiring guy. Berhalter is the last one.
After that kind of mistake, you don't need the most talented or the most respected. You need the most inspiring in there to lead the team

CONCACAF 2030 World Cup qualifying starts in September 2027. Will actually be nice to go through qualifying.

I don’t get it. Against the Netherlands in 2022 we gave up goals to poor marking by Dest, Adams, and Robinson, still produced a higher xG than the Dutch, and the loss was all Gregg’s fault. In 2026 we look like arse and have 0.67xG from two shots on target all game and it’s entirely on the players? How about both parties were well below what we expected. The players sucked but you don’t let the coach off Scott free for a showing that poor.

Number 15 but ok. Still a top 16 team and therefore making it in the round of 16 to get blown out by number 10.

We beat Para, Australia, and Bosnia, (loss to Turkey) and we got hyped like they were about to reach the World Cup final. Unfortunately have to admit what Thierry kept repeating afterwards: “levels, levels”

According to FIFA's ranking on June 11th, 16. Another site says 17, and another 15.
The other claim to be the most recent whereas FIFA official site shows the last ranking before the start of the World Cup.

And we were at home.
Is there a page somewhere where I can see giveaways by player tonight?

What about the wasteland that was US Soccer before 1990.
Games in the 80's were played at community college and city parks with the games being marketed to our opponents.
It could be a hell of a lot worse than losing in the round of 16 (even a bad loss)

Preach
…and I’ll add soccer is one of the most technical games. Probably second only to golf. No one at the WC level has less than than their entire life dedicated to the game.
