Gregg has already announced the starting XI.

Gregg Berhalter confirms us
@TUDNUSA
the starting #USMNT XI for tomorrow: Turner; Cannon, Zimmerman, Long, Jedi; Adams, Musah, Aaronson; Weah, Ferreira, Pulisic.
He also said that Aaronson will start in the midfield and that they hope to get McKennie 20 minutes or so.

I’ve heard Hakimi is out, which is a shame. Also disappointed with no CCV. Aaronson is an interesting one. He didn’t look good in the middle for us previously but we only played him there once. He played there a lot this season for Salzburg and looked good, but he played behind two strikers in a more advanced role. Wonder if we tweak things a bit.

This is the first of 4 matches coming up, so we know there is going to be a lot of rotation, so it's not too surprising that the first match he starts an XI that he has a lot of familiarity with.

I thought Hakimi was basically kicked off the team?
Or am I thinking of the other high profile Moroccan player?

I just want to see a cohesive showing this window, while building a few pieces and depth. With the way this WC will work and limited time ahead of the Cup, we need to have a clear squad pretty quickly this summer.

Btw, Scotland and Ukraine play their WCQ playoff match today for the right to play Wales next week with a spot in out group on the line.
That match is at 1:30pm, also on ESPN2

This looks like a line-up Gregg would run with if we had to play a qualifier today. Only exception is I think McKennie might start.
We know about Dest, Richards, Reyna, and Pefok. May never learn about Brooks.
But did we ever learn about Steffen’s reason for missing this stretch of games?

Nope, just "family reasons"

Scally having shown well in camp and turned heads is a huge plus! Hopefully he gets decent minutes this window.

Here's a story on why Tillman chose US over Germany, with Gregg taking a direct page out of the Jurgen playbook.
Here's a story on why Tillman chose US over Germany, with Gregg taking a direct page out of the Jurgen playbook.
quote:
Tillman noted that Gregg Berhalter’s pitch, along with a clearer path to World Cup play with the USMNT than with Germany, were major factors in his choice. “I would say that I have a chance of playing in a World Cup this year. In Germany, I think I wouldn’t be with the team for (likely) the next two years,” Tillman said. “If I have a great career the next two years, maybe I can have a chance with the German national team but I don’t really see the chance with them. I see it here.”

Looks like he's sticking with a back 4, vs what he previously said about tinkering with a back 3.
Unless he's going back to that shite he did at the beginning of his tenure with a wide back pushing forward centrally (having Adams play that role stupidly). Jedi usually goes all the way up but at least he stays wide and is fast enough to track back.
