Will the nations league be the main one going forward? Or just a weird year with the World Cup timing

Also, post WC Gold cup is usually always the B/C guys.

More importantly, this is the last break our guys get until summer of 28.

There are two Gold Cups every four year World Cup cycle. The first one is usually to build depth. The second one is usually a WC tuneup. We just had our A team in for Nation’s League and most of them are coming off of long European seasons, so they deserve a break. We should have the full A team for the Copa next summer, and a hybrid for the Gold Cup in ‘25.

Isn’t it most of their A team playing? If so, they probably have the advantage.

Nations League will be in March going forward.

This one was weird because the winter World Cup threw off the whole international schedule. In the past, there was always an "off-year" Gold Cup where we would take a B-team because only one of them qualified you for Confederations Cup, but that's gone now, so I have no idea how it will be handled going forward.

The 2025 Gold Cup is supposed to be a test-run for the World Cup with UEFA, CONMEBOL, AFC teams in it, so I bet we will send an A-team for that, especially since we won't have World Cup qualifying this cycle.

That hasn't been the case in the past. The first one was always the A-team tournament because the Confederations Cup spot was up for grabs, the one the year before the World Cup was always the B-team one.

Other way around. 2011/15/19 were the main ones, and 2013/2017/2021 were the B squads.

This year it’s different because the nations league.

The post World Cup Gold Cup was always the A-team one because that was the one that got you the Confederations Cup bid.

2021 was B-team
2019 was A-team
2017 was B-team with some A-team guys coming up for the knockouts
2015 was A-team
2013 was B-team led by post-sabbatical Donovan
2011 was A-team
2009 was B-team
2007 was A-team

The rumors are that it's supposed to be 16 CONCACAF teams and 8 invited guests from all over the world, so 24.
