It looked like he was trying to play through a bad case of gastroenteritis.
It just felt like he didn't trust anything he was doing out there and I wonder how much that had to do with him playing on the left instead of his preferred right.
For as bad as Weah was though, I think I hated watching how Pepi played even more. It seemed like 90% of his touches in dangerous areas took him away from goal.
And like I said earlier, his positioning in general was just really really bad.

It’s also why we’re playing three at the back and Antonee Robinson protecting him further on the flank.
It’s impossible to overstate the absence of Robinson/Ream/Richards/Adams.
Every single element of how we want to control the game is gone without those four. We can still do some things and create offensively to an extent, but we are just fundamentally not the same team.

There’s 3-4 days off between games. Yes, we need some of our bench to show up but we don’t need to play 18-20 guys to be successful. We need like 15 guys that can hold the same level and create a spark when brought on.

quote:Right. It had nothing to do with the fact that Turkey had the quality to play to a 2-2 draw with Spain in qualifiers or anything.
Turkey being given a good chance of winning the pool is more of a reflection of the pool they are in and not of Turkey as a squad.
Just stop dude.

Turkey made very few set runs offensively especially in the second half. There is no excuse for that last goal unless you have been overworked throughout the match, definitely not the case for the defense; very sloppy

Exactly. Next cycle we have to have minimum 1 but ideally 2 CBs that develop into starter quality players. Someone like Carter Vickers needs to make the jump. Miles and Mark are not those guys.

We need to do everything we can to get Noki Banks to play for us. Hire Gregg to be a recruiting liaison or some shite.

He did make that jump. Was by far one of Celtic's best players, but then he blew out his knee.
NoahKai Banks will be very good for us... if he chooses us.

Wish casting again? Now we are hyping up qualifiers, they were shut out by both opponents in the actual WC. The US has had some pretty embarrassing qualifying matches and some unbelievable ones, zero baring on tonight’s game

Pepi was weird tonight. He always seemed around, but was rarely involved, if that makes sense. Like you said, his positioning was off.
FWIW FotMob gave him a 5.9 tonight, and Weah a 5.3.

McKenzie needs to never see the field again for the national team. I never rated him and holy shite that was bad

So many times Turkey's passes were just outsmarting our defenders & out hustling every contested ball. Those guys showed why they're the B team.
Good news (goal be darned) is that we got to face adversity & battle back in an ultimately meaningless game. They just put a lot of defense on tape & can spend this week studying & sharpening things

Yeah I’m glad some of the bench guys got some work in and makes you realize why some are bench guys. The nucleus is there. The future is bright!

Without the game winner against Mexico miles Robinson might be my least favorite player in a while

Would I have preferred a win and group sweep? Sure.
But as Zlatan said in the pregame, you don’t want what you are remembered for at the World Cup being sweeping your group.
Sloppy play by benchwarmers against a motivated starting group for a team that was a "sleeper" for this tournament that got your A player's much needed rest going into knockouts.
Everyone calm their tits.

Not sure why everyone is penciling in Egypt
They just got their FIRST WC win ever so no result is certain
Belgium has looked pedestrian as all hell but I could totally see them putting it together and whooping New Zealand just for one game
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Belgium end up winning the group - things have gone too easily so far for us this WC

We will get all the good vibes back if we beat BH.
I think Poch did the right thing with the rotation last night even given the outcome. Can’t let any negativity or doubt creep into the camp.
