So they’re going to review the call, and possibly extend the punishment, but they will not consider amending the punishment to a yellow and time served playing with 10 men?

Fifas decision is ironclad and absolute, unquestionable an irreversible, even (read especially) when fifa is in error?

FIFA is one of the (if not the most) corrupt international organizations in the world. They don't give two shits about anything except enriching themselves.

Not "growing the game", not fairness, not the integrity of the sport...imagine it like the WWE. Entertainment and making money first, actual fair competition is way down the list of importance.

I'm sure blowing a golden moment in the world's richest media market will be great for that.

Edit: sorry, you were 100% correct. Re-reading this, I was salty as heck this morning & took it out on you.

There are countries with smaller populations than the US that will have more viewers for their teams due to popularity of the sport.

The US making it an extra round doesn't move the needle that much. Where I live in the US, you wouldn't even know the US is playing in the World Cup or that the tournament is mostly taking place on US soil.

Where exactly do you live?

Because I live in football dominated area in the middle of the country, and I have had lots of friends actively bring it up and how much they've enjoyed watching. Way more than I can remember ever.

The US should publicly demand no more South American officials.

Which is why soccer will never grow here. We have retards leading the federation. It was an illegal use of VAR, so we should be raising hell.

The US making a deep run with the WC on our soil is exactly what FIFA wants. Towards the end of our lifetimes you will see the results of what has been going on with the academies, talent development, and now the WC to develop a fan base. Hell, I think corrupt arse FIFA might let us get to the finals because our market is the largest untapped, and wealthiest, market in the world

Our federation is so cucked if they don’t challenge this and raise hell.

If this happened to Mexico they would be screaming shite in Spanish and probably have cartels kidnap fifa members and all the refs

If the USSF raised hell like others would (backing their fans and players) and highlighted corruption, inconsistency and incompetence, it would be a big win for them. Not to mention that it would show the players that they had their back.
And that would be true no matter the outcome

BTW: he wouldn’t get a multi game suspension if this happened, because it would look like retaliation and there would be backlash. Infantino would never allow that

They’d probably just give us Mexican, Canadian, Iranian, etc. officials. It’s impossible to get a fair shake unfortunately.
Just have to hope that they call the game equally fair or equally bad for both sides

If you plan on living more than 8 more years I think we can see it by then. It's nuts how well the academy system for MLS has been doing. Not golden generation Germany or Clairefontaine good, but very good.

This board would be electric with a Pville vs. StraightCashHomey debate right now.

It’s pretty crazy how much better our attacking has become. Also crazy that after GK being our strongest position it’s now a weak spot.

I would also get our nonchalant response to a clear bullshite red card if it was one of our subs or really anyone else outside of CP.

It’s insane we are just going to roll over and let our biggest offensive threat miss a knock out game over a call that by fifas own written rules should have never happened. I could see letting it go if it was close and they used VAR correctly. The fact they have admitted he used slow mo and stills should have our federation up in arms.

There lies the slowest cog in our development. We finally have elite talent. Our federation is operating like it's 1994. The Poch hire was a step forward in the "we're serious about this" direction.

If a call like that happens against Quinones on Sunday night, they will storm the pitch and tear the officials limbs off...but it won't.

I don't care if the decision won't (not can't) be overturned, they shouldn't just take this lying down. This is the equivalent of instant replay reviewing a fumble in the NFL playoffs and backing the offense up 10 yards for a holding penalty they didn't call live. Imagine the fricking uproar over that. That's what happened here

Our biggest star was injured in game 1 and missed game 2 because of a studs up, raking challenge down his calf.

I don’t recall all of these foreign fans saying the Paraguayan should have been sent off.

Funny how a potential injury that didn’t happen carries more weight than an actual injury.

Paraguayan injuring Pulisic
Hakimi’s tackle on Vini Jr
Musiala (I think) kicking the Ecuadorian in the face

yeah. sure.

quote:

USA’s opening-game triumph against Paraguay, primetime on Friday night, raked in 19 million viewers, topped up to 26 million when including Spanish-language viewers on Telemundo and Peacock. For their other two group games, that total number did not drop below 23 million. For context, Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration last year drew in 24.6 million viewers across all 15 major US networks. And the New York Knicks’ NBA Finals series win, clinched the day after the US victory over Paraguay, drew in 20.6 million per game across ABC and ESPN.

If the US was playing on the 4th of July it would probably get superbowl type numbers.

Just to give you some frame of reference, the UK had $16M viewers for there game against DR Congo, which was the most ever for a world cup game viewership in the UK.

The "no one cares about soccer, no one even knows the tournament is going on where i live" people sure do spend a lot of time on a soccer forum and/or soccer threads banging that drum.
