Two Gold Cup Finals in a row against Mexico with an aggregate score of 2-9. Frankly, outside of an awesome Confederations Cup run, we pretty much fell apart any time we faced any quality team up until early 2012 with that win in Italy. Slovenia wasn't a bad win in late 2011, but I thought it may just be a one-off result until we beat Italy and then dominated Scotland back to back. Not to mention, we've absolutely owned Mexico during his run.

I mean it's pretty easy to see how this doesn't lead to a firing. When you look at the results since he came in, we've maintained and even slightly improved our win percentage playing more consistently quality sides. There's a vast difference between winning 60% of matches in a year when one year's results are filled with CONCACAF wins and the other is filled with World Cup caliber sides and Euro sides in qualification form.

Outside of the shite run of the Colombia, Ireland (disgusting), and Chile matches, we haven't had a real streak of losses at all since he took over. Compare this to the later 00s where we'd play 5 world class sides and lose all five matches (2007).

We had a different lineup every match with people in position chosen by what I assume was names drawn out of a hat, and we were still the favorites. Why is THIS single loss a low point in US Soccer history when we've had worse results against lower competition and we still play for the Confederations Cup anyway? I'm not saying not to be critical or have concerns. I'm saying that everyone losing their shite due to a result like this and acting like the squad is in disarray is a bit over the top.

You need to accept that there is a very large contingent here that has been waiting for a night like last night for a long time.

Im ready to see Jurgen move on because the progress has stalled, he seems to have dug himself a hole by building the team around some bad players (which, to be clear, is his fault), and we can't afford to waste any time.
But it's hard to take people seriously when they would have liked to have seen him fired last summer.
