I agree with you. Again, I'm not happy at all. I just think it's weak to go straight to comparisons to Bob Bradley when this is nowhere near the Mexico pounding that tipped the scales. It's one thing to be embarrassed, but it's another to be utterly dominated by your main competition for CONCACAF supremacy.

What makes you believe Mexico wouldn't have dominated us in the final this time? We are not good. We are playing some really bad players all over the field.

It was also the 2nd WC for that coach which IMO is the limit for just about anyone.

What? Bob only had 1 WC

Because they aren't very good either.

Huh?

We were dominating Mexico until Dolo went down.

For 20-25 minutes. Mexico turned that shite around with ease. Go back and look at what people here were saying then. We got beat 4-2 after holding a 2-0 lead for the first 30 basically. That's getting pounded. A lot of guys here were making claims that Mexico was about to run away with CONCACAF, and that was before they did work a year later in London 2012.

Letting Mexico score 4 goals in 60 minutes to blow a 2-0 lead is far more embarrassing than Jamaica pulling off a 2-1 victory on a day when we couldn't put anything in the net. Not to mention, Bradley had, again, already lost 2-1 to Panama earlier in the tournament. It's hilarious that many people on this board were begging for Jurgen to manage the USMNT after the Mexico match. These are completely different situations, and it's a reach to really compare them. We miss the Confederations Cup, and I'll jump on the "frick it, let's make moves" train.

So just because we beat Jamaica in possession, losing to them in the semis is not as bad as losing to Mexico in the final?

I don't care how the stats read, we have no business not making it to the finals of the Gold Cup... Ever.

This tournament has been pretty even outside of Cuba. Jamaica drew Costa Rica, and Costa Rica was one awful penalty call from going to PKs with Mexico. We can act like this hasn't been a competitive tournament throughout or we can be rational and admit that a loss to Jamaica isn't as bad as we're making it out to be. Go look at the results of the tournament.

We slept through this entire tournament and begged teams to steal one, and one of them stole a match. Plain and simple. This is one of the shittiest spans of performances (outside of Clint) I've seen in awhile, and we coasted through the tournament. Mexico is awful, and we'd have likely beat them.

I agree. I'm just as upset as everyone else. I'm just saying that Bradley was already building up to being sacked. You won't see Sunil getting hyped up to fire Jurgen after he went to Europe and dropped the Netherlands and Germany. That doesn't absolve him, but it doesn't hurt him. This is not fireable, but it opens the door to having that talk more seriously.

I think this team is Germany's revenge for our GIs knocking up all their hausfraus for the last sixty years.

And Klinsi should release all the MLS guys instead of making them play Saturday. Some of their teams are really hurting without them.
Start:
Guzan
Chandler- Ream-Brooks-Alvarado
Corona-Bedoya-Johnson-Yedlin
Bacon & Gordon (Galaxy won't need him with Zardes back)

Come to think of it, that's not far off from the Shitshow XI we had tonight!

ETA: Unless it's MEXICO!

So you've forgiven Steve Sampson for leaving John Harkes at home (even if he was a douchebag) and trying to play a frickING 3-6-1 and finishing last in the 1998 World Cup?

Meh. I'm just tired of hearing about it EVERY SINGLE TIME someone on this board wants to hate on JK. Get some new material. It was a poor decision but not totally illogical. Certainly not as illogical as running a 3-6-1. That's a poor analogy.

"Unforgivable?" Did he commit fratricide or something? Jesus you guys are so dramatic.

Better tactician? Bob Bradley.

Jurgen is a better recruiter and possibly better at organizing the setup -- not sure yet.

I'm not making an argument for Jurgen. I'm simply asking that we quit bringing up Landon Donovan. LD had nothing to do with how abysmal this team and staff were today.

I like JK. What I dont like is him overlooking and excusing awful play by some in the lineup.

My point exactly. There are so many valid reasons to complain that all of that other shite just seems like a reach. I'm tired of every single negative result or bad performance coming back to that. It has no impact whatsoever on what is going on right now. Let it go.

Like some said three years ago, when we lost to Jamaica (first time ever!) in a World Cup qualifier, it's a culmination of shitty tactics, shitty player selection and shitty roster management that led us here. The LD example is just the biggest. It's Jurgen's equivalent of LSU shitting the bed in the national title game. It's a massive failure from the man in charge (and I say that loving Les Miles and believing he's a great coach for LSU.) He'll never be able to unwear that hat. It's his.

That said, if it makes you feel better, I'll start harping on Jurgen playing Jeff Larentowicz over Bradley for the first four or five games of his tenure because Bradley "wasn't playing first team football" instead.

There's plenty of bizarre, shitty, if not downright stupid decisions we can focus on.
