your point being that G is somehow more difficult?

Due to G having 4 competent teams, yes.

It´s already universally accepted that B is the toughest.

The BBC disagrees. And so do the FIFA rankings.

Cumulative FIFA rankings by Group:
G: 45
D: 57
C: 81
B: 84
E: 91
A: 97
F: 105
H: 113

No doubt that we have to play some of the stronger countries, but if we come out of this group...watch out for the US...we'll be playing with some serious confidence heading into the next stage...and confidence that could take us a good ways in the tournament.

I understand your point. I just think it is debatable.

In my mind Spain/Germany is a wash. Portugal/Dutch wash.

I understand that there is a viewpoint that Chile is quite a bit tougher than the US, but you will not get me to agree with that.

Then you have Ghana v Australia. No way Australia advances. I will not say that about Ghana.

eta: Australia not Austalia

too simplistic.

This group has the reigning title holder, who also bookmarks that title with two European championships, and the previous runner up.

Chile is quite strong (they´d get out of that group, but may not get out of B).

Nah, I have checked multiple news outlets from a few countries to leave out the bias factor and they're all making cases for G, B and D

Group B is the group of death.

Statisticaly we dominated Ghana in the 2010 WC and Howard allowing a near post goal was the difference.

Portugal I saw play Israel twice and was not impressed.

Nother saying it won't be tough but it could be worse, we would probably overlook a team like Nigeria, we no doubt will not overlook Ghana.

GROUP B IS GROUP OF DEATH IMO.

once again you have no idea what you are talking about on this board

Ghana owns us and we have no where near the depth or technical ability of Portugal

I think it's B. Last WC's two finalists, a terrific Chile, and a very underrated Australia. The Socceroos advanced to the knockout phase in 2006, and finished 1-1-1 in 2010. Everyone always thinks they are an easy out, and they always play tough (well, except that thrashing to Germany).

Using the ELO ratings, Group B has 3 teams in the top 10 and two in the top 5. (Spain #2, Dutch #5, Chile #5, and Australia is #32). Group G is still really tough, but not as tough. Germany is #3, Portugal #8, and the USA #13 with Ghana at #33 (we tend to overrate them due to our past WC's)

G is no slouch, but B is the toughest group.

they´re like the Rep of Ireland. If they make it, they´re hard to beat. Very, very scrappy.

The Aussies are the USA of 20 years ago. Always fit, good athletes, not much skill. But fitness and athleticism (and size) can get you to the round of 16.

Well, not with this draw, but usually.

I would rather be us than Costa Rica. CR has England, Italy and Uraguay

Yes, that´s the third of the three ´heavy´ groups.

CR has looked good recently. No certaintly they will remain in good form next summer, but they can beat England and possibly draw the others. They probably won't advance, but they will be a tough out for that group.

You're completely off base this cycle.

This cycle is a few older players and a bunch of younger, smaller technical players. If they develop correctly they'll be dangerous by Russia, but they're absolute garbage this cycle.

And they were considered crap last cycle too, and the one before. The Socceroos are consistently underrated by soccer fans and writers. They drew twice with Japan during qualifying, so they can't totally suck.
