From no card on the field to out until the quarters

It’s patently absurd that some biased clown behind a computer monitor can frick an entire team for multiple games over something that incidental (and not even that significant in real time).
Suspension rules need to be changed to account for TV refs.

We can, and I would presume will, appeal it.

We will appeal, but i doubt they do shite. Intent isnt considered within the rule.
Basically once he landed on the guys ankle that way, he was getting a red.
quote:
Under the official IFAB Laws of the Game, a referee sanctions a challenge based solely on the excessive force, brutality, and danger posed to the opponent's safety, regardless of whether the player meant to commit a foul
Serious Foul Play: Occurs when challenging for the ball. If a player lunges, shows their studs, or makes high, forceful contact with excessive speed, it is a red card. Even if a player does not mean to hurt the opponent and is simply trying to win the ball, the danger of the action itself dictates the punishment.

Y’all are overreacting to 1 of our players being out vs Belgium. Next man up

do red cards ever get overturned? Is there a way of appealing a red card

The drop off from Balogun to Pepi or Wright is significant though. There is no on par replacement.

The only reason a card was even suggested was the slow-mo replay of the accidental ankle step. But it was clearly incidental as he was obviously challenging for the ball, AT WORST it should've been a yellow. He didn't go in with studs high or cleats pointed up, just landed that foot in an unfortunate way.
It was a case of the VAR lady seeing "oooh he stepped on his ankle!" and overreacting like a woman.
In my 20+ years of playing, we did MUCH worse from about 6th grade all the way through college. If something like that was deemed a red every time we played we'd have 2 vs. 2 by the end of the matches

It's going to make things tougher. I think we can find a way to beat Belgium, but you are right, we do not have another forward with his abilities.
We might have to play like the USA of old and shell and hope for a goal or two on the counter.
Doku is trouble, but I think we can handle the rest of Belgium with our A-squad (minus Balo)

My issue was it wasn't a challenge on the ground. It's not like he left a foot in trying to get the ball on the ground. It was just an awkward landing.
And I e seen way worse tackles this world cup that should have been red but we're just yellow.

This is what makes being a USMNT fan so awesome and terrible at the same time. The cards are absolutely stacked sky high against us and misery comes with that…….but if this team gets pissed and comes out ready to play I can’t wait to watch us beat the odds!

You mean the team beat US 5-2 before the cup

Seriously. A friendly from March?… with no Adams, Richards, Freeman, or Dest and Weah playing RB?
You think that’s the same 11 Poch goes with?

Flo is significantly better than “next man up”. We have no depth at ST as is the case for most countries.
