Sorry for the mass gifs, but damn its warranted.

I could even stomach ManU more than Chelsea.

Chelsea isn't the ideal fit but it isn't horrible. I'd prefer Arsenal or Everton but Sarri is a solid manager to play under.

Spain would probably be ideal though.

Also, Chelsea has some clause where they can buy back Thorgan Hazard apparently and BvB are interested.

Can you tell me about why Sarri will be good for his development?

At Empoli, he gave debuts to several now very well known youth players:

Daniele Rugani, Piotr Zielinski, Elseid Hysaj.

He also gave a decent amount of time to some guys who are at least known in Italy like:

Spinazzola, Verdi, Tonelli, and Laxalt

Napoli's youth setup doesn't seem to produce much, so I can't really hold that against him. But most of the attacking midfielders/wingers he worked with seemed to score more/assist more under him than in other seasons.

But if he can become the next Hazard there then I would be happy with the outcome.

Too bad Chelsea change coaches more often than I change my oil.

This move just screams disaster to me, but I’m willing to go into it with an open mind and a bit of optimism. I’ll watch every one of their games, and likely be pulling for them when he actually plays.

F this move, he can't and won't ever be able to carry Hazard's jock and now we're going to have all these limp wrist American soccer fans watching and rooting for us. Worst case scenario.

Well if Randy is against it that makes me think we should probably be for it.

Your “Pulisic’s potential is only as a midtable player” is one of the worst takes I’ve seen on this board since that Alabama fan said he should play for Croatia.

If you sell Hazard... I doubt he'd be the only signing you'd bring in to replace his productivity..

you have a point on the latter... endless debate about not enough playing time or wanting him to play more centrally...

Oh, no! The team you support will become more popular. The horror.

At this point in his career he’s a bench player/sub at the big clubs across Europe, And would be an everyday impact player for mid-table clubs. Sorry if you’re choosing to completely ignore what you’ve seen over the last year + from him. I’ve watched damn near every one of his games since Dortmund called him up, and I know you have too, so I’m not sure what you’re seeing that I’m not.

I’ve never said he doesn’t belong, or is out of place at the big clubs, he’s proven he can play with them, but he’s also not shown much that leads me to believe he’s anything more than a final 15-20 min sub, or a starter when the main guys need rest.

My “take” isn’t that he’s destined to ALWAYS be that, but that he IS that right now. If the goal is to play every week and improve, as it should be for his age, he should be doing that at a mid-table club. However, I also see how his marketability, the allure of the big European clubs and him being an American makes that damn near impossible. It’s just a shame, because I think this move will only hinder his progress over the next couple seasons before he ultimately decides it’s best to leave Chelsea.

I just hope this doesn't mean BVB completely cast him aside for the remainder of the season.

If that was their intent, I'd think they'd just let him go in January...

Raphael Honigstein has an updated article stating...
quote:

Pulisic has assured the club he will not run down his existing contract, which expires in 2020, but Dortmund are aware he has his heart set on leaving Germany.
Chelsea are in pole position to win the race for the 20-year-old's signature with rival bids from the Premier League yet to emerge from Manchester United, Arsenal or Liverpool, and Dortmund are in no rush to conclude the deal in case counteroffers arrive.

Pulisic needs to go somewhere that he will play alot or start. He's not going to get that at one of the top Premiere League sides. May be able to get a few minutes here and there with Chelsea next season. I can't see where he would get any minutes with Liverpool. They have kids out on loan that I'd like to see start getting minutes with the club.

Did you watch him at all when he was in form and not injured? He was a consistent starter and impact player for BvB, a top team in the bundesliga. He would start for Arsenal right now (a top 6 team despite not always playing like it...). So I’m not really sure why you act like his current ability is somehow well below where he was two years ago.

Yes, it wasn’t anything different than when he first came up his first full year with Dortmund.

I’m not saying he’s worse than he was two years ago, but I am saying he hasn’t shown much, if any, improvement either. And anyone who disagrees with that hasn’t really watched him.

ETA: and yeah, he probably could start for Arsenal. I mean they start sokratis ffs. They have isssues.

I just don’t see why they would spend this much cash if they don’t plan on using him.

Injuries, rotation of the side....he’d play plenty, IMO. He obviously wouldn’t be the first name on the team sheet, but he’d get his minutes.

Their wingers are who? Willian, Pedro, Hazard, Hudson-Odoi? Two of those are 30+ and Hazard may be out the door.

If City can make it work with Sterling, Bernardo, Mahrez and Sane I think they can over there.
