All the top six were in for him

But you can understand Klopp not wanting to spend almost £60 million on a squad player.

They overpaid for him. The kid is over hyped because he's American. Down vote me but it's true.

Maybe they overpaid given his contract situation but Chelsea clearly value him at 58 million pounds. Stating that he is overhyped is silly. Last year he had the third most successful dribbles per 90 in Europe, behind only Messi and Neymar. At the bundesliga mid season he had the highest expected assists (but weren’t converted because Dortmund’s finishing was poor). If you compare his numbers to Ronaldo’s he has higher goals and assists per 90 at age 20.

You also said this in the Liverpool thread:

If they offered a straight swap of Pulisic for Shaq I wouldn't take it.

Wow I can't believe this was done so fast. Hopefully Sarri stays at Chelsea for a while.

Yeah, this is my biggest worry. Sarri played a good number of young guys at Empoli, most notably Rugani, Zielinski, and Hysaj. He gets a good deal from his wingers, it seems. I feel like Pulisic could thrive under him given our current state in those wide positions. But Sarri could be gone in 10 months and we could have a caretaker manager before we appoint some other counter attacking manager.

Given the lack of depth on the wing for Chelsea, it might be assured that CP plays.

Headhunters rejoicing once this is official - will be great day for we American Chelsea supporters

May have to travel to Stamford Bridge and hang with me mates next season to cheer on young Christian.

(Singing)
Blue is the colour, football is the game
We're all together, and winning is our aim
So cheer us on through the sun and rain
'cause Chelsea, Chelsea is our name

I think we were clearly in for him at one point and would have liked our chances if we went for him this Jan... obviously, nothing is certain..

For whatever reason, we decided to not go back in for him this window... Most of our Journos are saying it is due to how well Shaqiri has panned out and the cost being prohibitive vs. him being a need...

It is insane that people thought Shaqiri wouldn’t work.

It’s honestly not even a ‘hot’ take, but a retarded one. I hate the club he plays for but even I knew he’d be good there.

I didn't think Shaq would be so good as a no. 10. He's always been a good wide player, but the times he's been deployed behind the front three (a handful of times, a Pool fan can correct me) he's been really impressive.

Haven't you been adamant, particularly the last few months, that he wasn't coming to the premiere league? Did we not just argue about that like 2 weeks ago?

Um no I said we had no idea if a EPL move was happening and didn’t think a top six move is the best thing for him.

And I also had to explain how a tribunal works for you

You sure are wrong a lot

I knew he had the talent, but many had reservations about his mentality and how well he could adapt to being a role player.. the risk/reward (13mm??) was always too good to pass up...

He's obviously playing well and has forced himself in to more than just a bench option..

He really hasn’t been in a quality side since playing Bayern where he isn’t so heavily relied on.

Bobby has mainly been the 10, with Salah up top when we do deploy 4231.. Shaq usually starts on the right, but that front 4 is very fluid... the wide players always drift centrally with the FBs providing the width..

There were a couple of games I've watched where it looked like Shaq was the no. 10. The fluidity does make those distinctions difficult. I feel like Bobby plays like a false 9, drawing markers upfield with his back to play, while Shaq receives the ball facing the game.

def when we go 433... which is what we usually play against the big 6..

but again.. very fluid.. Mane starts on the right, but turns up everywhere in the attacking third..

Shaq with his work rate and technical ability is perfect for Klopp's system.

His only questions marks was his attitude at times which led to a drop in play.

you have a very poor memory or just blatantly twist narratives

You never "explained" anything to me. You went into a diatribe about how a free transfer, a very common term in professional soccer, isn't technically free and then prissed around puffing your chest out like you have omnipotent knowledge based on a technicality.

It'S nOt A fReE tRaNsFeR bEcAuSe ThErE's A tRiBuNaL fEe

You were adamant he wasn't going to the PL. I was adamant that all signs pointed that's exactly what he was doing because he hadn't signed his contract and Dortmund didn't want him to go for FREE (or a measly tribunal fee, to be technical timmy)

And here we are a few weeks later, Pulisic off to the PL for a huge fee, as I said weeks ago
