Looks like Theo is getting the rare start on the wing.

Interesting to see Joel in over the Ox. Must be a change in the pecking order.

Great performance by the guys. Campbell has really impressed since being inserted into the first 11. He can finish, create, and do the dirty work of defending. Joel should be our starting right mid until his form drops off or Theo or Ox supplant him.

I do think there is something to do with just getting a run of games, but this is the 2nd time in a row that Campbell has been absolutely fantastic in Europe.

I haven't posted here in a while but holy shite we just did that. I didn't think we would after how the first 15 minutes went but that was huge. Let's get healthy and make some acquisitions in the January window and we can do some damage in the champions and premier leagues

I'm not really a Campbell fan but damn did he play well today. He is often prone to boneheaded plays and passes but he was on point today. I agree he should stay in the starting lineup until someone else supplants him.

The realistic side of me wants to say that Joel is just on a temporary run of good form.

But he's been put into some big game situations and delivered.

Who knows? Maybe a light has come on.

I still don't think Campbell is that talented a player, but no doubt he's been huge during this injury crisis. Look fergie won the PL and made deep CL runs with players who in hindsight were not "United" quality. But they were either in form that year or they just provided something that fit really well with how the main stars of the team wanted to play.

Or maybe Campbell is that good and I'm an idiot. Either way I'm just glad it's working

Joel is good in the final third. That counts for something. He's got two goals, two assists in his last 8 performances for us.

He's not as strong or fast as the Ox, but he's more technical on the ball, much better in one-twos and tight spaces. Ox is all about putting his head down and beating his man to the byline, and when that doesn't work he's got little else to offer, right now.

So which group winners would you feel best about facing?

Wolfsburg
Chelsea
Zenit
Man City

I think I'd probably take them in that order. Obviously I want no part of the Spanish sides, at least until we are full health. Man City without Aguero and Kompany might be more alluring of a matchup than Zenit, who have looked very good and the away leg in Russia is always tough.

I think it's more the case that Campbell is far more aware of his limitations and tries to play within them. Ox is an utterly fantastic dribbler who has no absolutely no end product, but he has supreme technical skills. I'd rather neither ask for the ball to feet, but in current form I suppose Campbell will come out on top. He seems a lot like Wiltord.

Unfortunately, we can't play Chelsea. Although, they only seem to be able to beat Arsenal at the moment.

During the game when Joel and Walcott switched, the announcer kept saying how well that worked since Joel is better defensively. Does it make anyone else a bit angry that this is the case. For a winger, it seems defensive prowess is essentially all about effort. Walcott is just bad at lot defense because he doesn't try it seems. It's just crazy to me that the effort can't be put in for such a huge game.

Anyone, I'm not gonna dwell on the negatives on such a good night. That was an extremely enjoyable match to watch. Hopefully, the squad is a lot deeper once the knockout rounds begin.
