Ramsey had nearly 150 touches on Saturday. I love him on the right but I really love him in the middle. I'll be interested to see if we see any Ramsey-Wilshere pairings when they're both heathy or if one is pushed wide.
Oh frick who am I kidding, they'll never both be heathy at the same time.

I love Ramsey in the middle but I have two fears with him. He has the annoying knack for misplacing really simple passes, which really hurts us when we are trying to recycle possession. The other I don't really know it is that much of a fear, but it was something I even noticed in the few times he has played next to Coquelin in the middle, is that the way he is all over the place in attack has to make life difficult for whoever is his DM partner trying to cover him. Coquelin looked the worst I had ever seen him positionally against West Ham playing next to him.
We are simply a better team whenever he is in the starting 11, whether on the right or in the middle imo.

I agree.

I think this fear is a little overhyped, especially by Ramsey detractors. He does misplace simple passes more frequently than most of our players, and it's especially obvious when he does it in Cazorla's position.
BUT, they are usually not in dangerous positions and don't lead to chances for the other team. I think of the one this week where he tried a back pass to Per and it went flying out of bounds. It looks bad and people will point to it, but it simply led to a throw for the other team and we got back and settled in.
He still completed 91 percent of his passes, had 7 shots (an insane number for anyone, much less a CM...he gets into the best positions), 4 key passes, a goal, and an assist.

I think this is completely valid. It's why I liked him on the right. That isn't an issue. Bellerin and he seem to be on the same page.
However, I think his strengths outweigh the weaknesses in the middle. Arsenal, as a team, are most frustrating to me when we have all control, but no drive, in the midfield. He flips that script. We sacrifice a little control but generate so much danger in the final third. It's a high-risk, high-reward proposition, and if we find a way to partner Ramsey, it makes us really dangerous on any given night.
Someone will do a compilation of Ramsey in the next day or two vs. Sunderland. I'll bring it back and point out some of his movement early to link defense and attack. It was truly brilliant, the way he passed and moved to create space and open up the defense. Requires intelligence and energy, and he's got it.

Here's the clip I'm talking about (should link to the 29 second mark). Watch his interchange with Ozil. Brilliant stuff. Then there's the run later for his first shot.

Ozil and Ramsey are very smart players. Always a step ahead.
ETA: How many chest passes did Per make? Has to be a record for one match. Like in the history of the sport.
ETA(again): I think he is our next Captain.

Guy who replaced Neville on MNF says he would play Ramsey over Ozil at the #10....
Posted on 12/7/15 at 8:50 pm to RTR America
That guy is a moron. Ozil is best 10 in the world.

he's also welsh and known Ramsey since he was 5. (i think. saw that on twitter)
not to mention he's half retarded.
and i don't even like ozil

I didn't know that was possible

Exactly. Not liking Ozil is like not liking Steph Curry. They both make the games they play look so easy.

has zero to do with him as a player and everything to do with the fact that he plays for arsenal.

I like Herrera, Mata and DeGea.

OK guys serious question. Who is it harder not to like Ozil or Cazorla?
Posted on 12/9/15 at 10:28 am to DB10_AFC
Cazorla. It's harder to hate happy, smiley, tiny cute people.

I think it's easily Cazorla. As said above, he is this tiny, smiley ball of intricate skill. He has a sort of underdog appeal because of his size. This appeals to a lot of people.
I really like Ozil, but to play devil's advocate here, he can rub people the wrong way. If he isn't brilliant in a game (a rarity), the way he carries himself can appear sluggish. His appearance fits in with most soccer players, but if you saw them on the streets in America, you may think Ozil is a douche with the earrings, high fade hair cut with slits shaved at his temples, etc.
Also, when Ozil scores, he does the M thing and the thumb sucking. It's fine, but it's not nearly as likeable as Cazorla's munchkin dancing. Also, the time he scored with his head and wanted to make sure everyone realized it was hysterical.
Again, I don't have a problem with any of this, but to a person that knows neither of them, Cazorla would be easier to like.

I feel like even when he is playing poorly he is still a joy to watch. The way he finds space and the touches he makes are all just ridiculous.
Ozil is my favorite player, but it is definitely harder to hate Santi.
I'd throw Per and the Ox in there too. I am completely basing all of this on videos from Arsenal's youtube channel.

Tbf Santi has only done the dance the one time I can remember. When he actually scored goals last year he lifted his sleeve up and kissed a tattoo.
