This is the old Obama fake Centrist schtick.
Say a bunch of really radical shite about undoing the foundation of this country. But do it with a folksy cadence, and end it with the whole bit about “there are no red states or blue states, just United States”
Bryan is saying the same thing. “We are all Americans!”
Which actually we quite literally are not all Americans, which is exactly why we have ICE going around deporting the ones who are not.
Suburban driving l, lulu lemon, yoga, CulDeSac Karens slurp this shite up like their bottomless Mimosas at brunch

Ok. If he is against both sides then it should be easy enough to point to lyrics criticizing the left. The dude puts out a ton of music so surely there is something out there.

He's on the front page at the AP News site. He's getting exactly what he wanted out of his little protest song. Most people hadn't heard of him or his music until today.

The general public is burned out on the guy. He is objectively not a very good person and there's only so many times you can write and sing the same song before adults check out. That works on children (e.g., Taylor Swift fans), but for grown people it's a slow slide into the abyss and it's been happening to him before this idiotic episode from an obviously unstable person.

I did a little digging on him, listened to his stuff and he's very talented. He writes all his own music himself. You can literally go to his YouTube page, go all the way to the first songs he put up there - recorded live from his Navy barracks with just him and his acoustic guitar. And I legit had no idea who he was.
He worked hard and got a taste of DIY fame, now bearing the fruits of his labor. There's ways to stay there - even touting your own views and opinions. The first thing: know your audience.
I guess you live and learn. He's gambling on there being enough core Nashville types who will either roll with this or put up with it. It's a bold move. Just ask Natalie Maines how it all works out.

Demonstrably false statement, and the words of his own song disprove his retroactively applied logic and version of reality.
There are three very different Americas right now. The Left and Right are diametrically opposed and incompatible. The third option, the "middle-ground" folks, haven't yet figured out that they're going to have to hold their nose and choose a side.
The rest of the people, are not Americans at all. They are foreign, illegal invaders, and they are the ones that he wrote this song about. This guy just proved himself to be both ignorant and weak, and his base will treat him accordingly. You don't get to just say something very publicly controversial and divisive in 2025 and then try to turn around and pretend that your intent was unity as opposed to subterfuge.
If you make a stand and pick a hill upon which to die, in this modern societal and political climate, you better stand your ground. There's blood in the water now, and the sharks are circling. ZB has effectively torpedoed his career.

I don't know shite about country music or Zach Bryan, except what I remember from listening to Johnny Cash records at my Grandparents home as a child (because they didn't have too much else to listen to). He sure seemed to sing about being a violent criminal a lot back then and people seemed to know that it was just a song about someone else (because I don't think Johnny Cash really shot a man just to watch him die). So what has changed? Are all country songs now personal introspectives? Real question.
