1) Cut spending and reduce the # of state jobs by at least 25%
2) Reduce regulations and cut red tape.
3) Impose mandatory jail sentences of no less than 10 years for politicians attempting extortion or pay to play schemes.
4) Cut taxes by 10% across the board.
5) Eliminate tenure status for department of education.
6) Means testing and work requirements for food stamps/welfare. Entitlements are not an open spigot and are limited to 6 months if employment is not found. And another 6 months after employed then cutoff.
7) Cut all funding from the state to any "sanctuary city".
8) Audit the entirety of the city departments of New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
9) Reopen Mental Health hospitals.
10) Get touch on crime, and institute stop and frisk and other measures used in the 1980s in NYC to clean up crime.

bunch of good ideas here in this thread for sure.
one thing that i think needs to happen....school choice. money follows the student and schools compete. no more set school districts.
honestly should be a 15-20 year plan for the state to get out of the school business all together.
either go independent school districts or you go full on school choice and slowly let private and charter schools take over. let them compete for the students.

break down the awards by major
Not a good idea - many kids don’t know what they want to study, many change majors, and many do not have the academic capability to do what they want

employer demand for given majors in 4 years time
There are not many good jobs here - that’s why people leave

Sign into law that JBE must be double masked at all times for the rest of his life.
And make him change his name to Dick Cheese

Resign and let someone competent lead the state.

Being serious
have latoya arrested and kept in jail solitary confinement with no visitation until a week after her term runs out
thats step 1 you have to do or anything else you try to do is just pissing in the wind

Yes. Now pick which ones and see how far you get

Already happening. Spend the money wiser.

Only way you gonna attract or retain young talent is to legalize pot. Too many other opportunities for people that grew up there to move out of state. It is your last resort.

The state needs to spend $ to Increase the availability of fiberoptic and power in the state, there are plenty of large companies looking for access to these utilities and they spend a frick ton of money to build where these are available. Were does the power come from? Maybe some additional LNG plants? Nuclear? All things that tend to benefit all instead of few.
Stimulus towards promotion of and subsidy of trade schools. The BS rhetoric of "you must go to college to get a good job" is really tired. We are paying $300k-$400k for high end Electricians, plumbers, controls specialists, and a host of other skilled labor because they are impossible to find. Investing in building a skilled labor pool would bring a ton of new companies to the state that want to build large projects. I know for a fact that fortune 500 companies shy away from Louisiana as much for the lack of educated and skilled labor as anything else.
Not sure why I am wasting my time typing this, nothing will change in Louisiana and it will continue to slowly rot away.

Immediately drop the legacy lawsuits against oil and sign a liability waiver for any wells older than 5 years.
Immediately 100k+ jobs return other corporations return

You degenerate pot heads really need to grow up and get a real job.
In case that bong resin has distorted your perception of reality, people move for better jobs, schools, and safety. Legalizing pot has nothing to do with any of that.

Drive all Louisianans into the Gulf?
Posted on 1/12/22 at 2:00 pm to BugAC
Not true. A lot of young professionals chose to relocate to Colorado over similar opportunities in other markets BECAUSE pot was legal there. It’s a significant draw, and a huge boom to their economy and government.

1st, pay some family member I have in government to do a "study"

This is one of the better responses. The quality of the education system needs to dramatically improve if the state is going to attract employers and out of state employees. If we want to grow our own workforce, we need to maximize basic education.
That to me is the biggest single fix to the state from the standpoint of attracting business.
I would rather not use tax incentives as a starting point because it is not addressing the root problem. It just makes a shitty state more palatable.

I've already done as much as I can to convince my kids to settle elsewhere for college and beyond. Sadly, I still have a while left to go.
After your major cities (BR/NO) start rejecting anything republican related, I don't think you can put the genie back in the bottle.
It's over but the long fall has just begun. Louisiana is a welfare state that's hostile to business. I don't see how you can turn that around
