What should have happened is we should have finished out those 2-3 weeks while Israel went after all these IRGC hardliners. All those small islands in the Strait that Iran is using to lock up the shipping should have been carpet bombed. After a sufficient amount of bombing had taken place with B-52’s and other assets the Marines should have taken those islands and they should have remained in U.S. control from now till evermore. After all that we should have armed the people and gave them their shot to take their country back. After all that had taken place then you could have made any deal you wanted. Trump just stopped to soon. We didn’t have the proper amount of pressure on them to force them to quit. Trump basically dropped the football at the 1 instead of carrying it into the endzone.

This was always the rational take

And even more recently they allegedly had enough material to make 11 nukes and were once again a few weeks away. So if you were dumb enough to believe that you would think that they might already have them. I've always heard they would nuke Israel as soon as they have one (which is also comically stupid)...so do they have them and are not sending them? Do they not have anything? The Israeli claims don't add up as don't the U.S. claims.

Let’s hope.

Not likely. They "pretended" to have a spare 10 days ago or so and the Israelis claimed it was all theater.

I have a lot of doubt about the purported Israel intel about nukes

Criticizing the military action in Iran is completely rational, but by all accounts, including Iran’s recent actions (ie. uranium and their nuclear program is the only sticking point in the proposed treaty), they were well on their way to a nuclear weapon.

I don’t see how the 60% enrichment can be explained any other way.

Do you think the confrontation between the Islamic Regime and the West was inevitable or completely avoidable.

I think the biggest problem is inflicting the amount of force necessary to remove the IRGC would result in substantial civilian casualties.

Please explain how he was “misled” by Israel.

Shared intel. Shared air combat missions. Shared end goal (or so we thought). Even shared bases.

It's hard to tell.

Maybe he is displeased. But Axios has definitely not always been forthcoming. And none of them really have to. It's their sources, not them that said these things.

100% agree.

When I originally questioned the timing of Operation Epic Fury I was called a Panican. I said trump should have focused on winning the midterms, domestic policies and dismantling the Bureaucratic State apparatus.

The trouble the US finds itself in now is the same BS we've found ourselves in multiple times since WWII, sticking our nose into a foreign nation's pile of shite and then not having enough guts and gonads to proceed to clean that pile of shite up. In general, a nation rarely if ever wins a kinetic war without completely destroying their opponents military capabilities while crushing the spirit of the government and the general population.

And the problem with Iran is a sizable amount of the general population is on our side, and some of the initial rhetoric from the Trump admin was liberation. There’s just no room for collateral damage in Iran.
