I don’t blame him. The average American is incredibly stupid and short sighted. I don’t care what podcasts you have listened to or what you have convinced yourself about the World. The US best days are behind us. I am almost 50 years old and I have heard the same song and dance every election but this time it’s different. In the past, you could say that most Americans shared basic common values: free speech, lower taxes, reduced government spending, and enforcing the border. That is no longer the case, millions of young Americans believe in fairytales and economic policies that either don’t exist or have never worked. My generation is getting older and the baby boomers are dying off, there is no longer a substantial group of older voters to offset the liberalism of younger generations. Prices are never coming down because sustained inflation is a byproduct of massive debt and continued deficit spending. American voters have shown time and again that they cannot stomach real spending cuts. The dollar’s spending power will continue to decline and interest rates will remain high making home ownership out of reach. Credit card payments will continue to increase and cars will continue to increase in cost due to rising labor costs due to the high cost of living. Politically there is no path forward for a truly conservative candidate because a lot of conservatives voted for MAGA and were betrayed by the political elites like McConnell and Thune. There is an ignorant belief that affordability can be achieved simply by talking about it or passing a bill that has the word “affordability” in it. Affordability can never be achieved as long as both parties and voters are unwilling to accept meaningful cuts and no politician can be elected campaigning on cuts. We are at a tipping point as a nation
