It’s hard for me to remember the order of operations….is a trans woman a man who wants to be a girl or a woman who wants to be a man….its hard to keep up with.
My modus operandi is to call ‘em like I see him….its pretty easy to tell what biological sex someone is, so that’s what I go with

The silly thing with the whole pronouns thing is normally they're reserved for the 3rd person. If you address someone directly you might say ma'am or sir but usually you're going to just say "you" which isn't a gender based pronoun anyway. If I'm not sure what someone is or what they prefer to be called I just say you.

I will address any adult as that person chooses. Doesn’t mean I’m jake with that person competing in any give sporting contest, etc. But am I out there looking for a culture war battle? Heavens, no.

I would simply avoid any gendered language if I wasn’t sure or not willing to play along with the charade.

Transgender people are clearly mentally ill and struggling. Best thing to do is treat them with kindness, not harsh confrontation or judgement.
Being kind doesn’t change my view relative to their mental illness and my unwillingness to engage in the pronoun nonsense.
