In a hypothetical scenario where Germany wanted us to leave, would we leave?

Note I’m not asking if they should, or would, or will.

We’re already leaving Germany in some capacity without them asking. Japan would be the ones to ask us to leave and idk if we would to be honest. A Marine just killed a woman a few weeks ago and eventually Japan will tell us to go if liberty incidents continue to happen there.

This. USAREUR is pretty much transitioning from Germany to Poland as we speak. It’s been an ongoing process for a few years now. The two places I was stationed there no longer exist.

Having a base within the range of hypersonic missiles is problematic. All our bases in the middle east have been wasted.

100% we would. Now would we drag it out for as long as possible to get political change that reverses it? Yes but yes we would leave.

If formally asked, I guess they would like what happened in the 1960s in France.

Trump is such a Putin bro, I bet they want us to leave. Right? That’s what the legacy media & Lincoln Project clowns keep saying.

But overall, how much does our presence contribute to their economy? These military folks have to spend their money somewhere.

Russia and China are in their back yard and when you add NK, they are probably very happy to have US troops watching over them. I would think Okinawa has half the @60k troops we have in Japan and the others deployed in mainland Japan aren’t that big a deal.

A ton. Reportedly billions in just the Ramstein portion alone. Very nice base. I was there for a TDY while stationed at Spain.
It's reported when Spain refused to resign partnership with US forces at Torrejon, the US turned over their portion of the base in May 92. Shortly after Spain hit a recession. Some might say it wasn't directly related, but it had to be. The US side of the base employed a lot of local civilians and not counting the amount of military who lived off base because on base housing was only for officers and senior high ranking NCOs.
The enlisted base housing was a place called Royal Oaks in Madrid.

Outside that security it’s not a great relationship especially with their current leaders.
