Not only that but it’s all roundup ready corn. I’m not a hippie but when I garden I try to use the least amount of chemicals as possible, can’t be good for the gut or cancer

Don't believe the billboard lawyers. I know several farmers that lived well into their 80's that sprayed tons of Roundup with open cab tractors in the 70's and 80's.

Not to sound too much like some spooked out conspiracy nut but I think the COVID pandemic has been a convenient cover to a larger supply chain issue we had over the horizon. COVID may have just been the needle that broke the camel's back.
you're on the wrong board commie.

no one believes this idiotic drivel.

Yellow field corn that is used for ethanol and animal feed is also used for cornmeal, corn chips, corn syrup, grits, etc. You just can't eat it as corn on the cob or canned.

Also, you can adjust what is planted in those fields and go with sweet corns or other crops entirely.

Ethanol is and alays was a boondgle subsidy for farmers. shite needs to end.

This country shold put way more focus on growing grains for neutral grain spirits and whiskey.

“I guarantee you that you never ate feed corn as your grits”

You would be wrong.Grandpa would have huge pile of corn with the shucks on in the barn. We’d shuck it then shell it for the cows, pigs and chickens.Would take the same corn to someone he knew that had a grist mill and get it ground.

Hell,I remember going out in the cornfield and picking the same corn when the shucks were green, shucking it and grandma would boil it for corn on the cob.

It was definitely chewier than sweet corn but I liked it.Granpa wasn’t a gardener,he didn’t grow sweet corn. When they ate corn on the cob it was same corn grown for the critters.

Look up Field Corn on Wikipedia

Field corn uses:
1-Livestock fodder
2-Cereal products -corn flour, corn meal, hominy, grits,,tortillas, corn bread, and cold breakfast cereals such as corn flakes.
3- processed human food products such as corn starch, corn oil, corn syrup
4-alcohol and corn whiskey
5-adhesives,plastics,gels,thickeners

I really don’t know but I suppose certain hybrid corn varieties are higher in starch and would be preferred for ethanol production.

We were awash in grain before the invasion. The US has almost gotten out of the grain business because it’s so cheap.

ironic that ethanol makes 20% less energy than gasoline. Milage increase in every engine that uses ethanol free gas

It's just hard for everyone to realize that our own Government wants the US to fail. But, that's the cold hard truth.

So how does Bill Gates’ gobbling up land fit into all of this?

Even if little kids are dying on the streets of the USA, there is not a single Democratic voter that would support this. Letting kids starve to death is simply not even an issue if it comes before some offshoot of green energy.

Only 1% of the corn grown can be eaten. The rest is No. 2 yellow field corn, which is indigestible to humans and used in animal feed, food supplements and ethanol

That 1% is as fresh kernels, no?

Corn can be ground into a meal. Indians were doing it for ages.

Field Corn and FEED Corn are two different animals. I guarantee you that you never ate feed corn as your grits. That shite is nearly inedible for humans.

I can guarantee you that I have, watched an old gentleman grind grits and cornmeal on a grit processor that was over 100 years old from feed corn after years of eating grits and cornmeal he brought us. As another poster said, best grits and cornmeal I've ever had. In fact, going make a pot of grits now from the batch.

So if we stopped producing ethanol from corn, we wouldn’t be able to re-allocate the kind of corn we grow?

Interesting.
