Woman Behind Bernie Sanders’ Iconic Mittens Quit Making Them Because High Taxes Killed Her

Even though Sanders admitted in 2019 that he would raise taxes on the middle class to support his Medicare for All plan, Ellis has shown support for the senator, sending him the repurposed sweater mittens in 2016 because she was “heartbroken” that he lost the Democratic nomination and “probably wouldn’t run again.”

This is funny because I just heard an interview with this woman last night and she completely contradicted what this article is saying. In the interview she was saying that she is a school teacher and she never did it as a business. She said she loves being a school teacher and would never get into a business full time that took her attention away from the rewarding work she already does. She didn't say frick all about taxes.
She said she got the mittens to him because his daughter in law owns the daycare her kids attend and she was making them for friends and family for the holidays and made Bernie some as well because she supports him and his policies. She gave the mittens to his daughter in law.
The interview was on NPR. She isn't being truthful in either that interview or in this article. One or the other. Not surprising from a lefty.

It's just funny how you get completely different stories on the same damn subject depending on who you listen to. In the interview I heard last night she specifically said that she had been getting many requests from friends and family to make them, but that doing it for anything more than holiday gifts would be distracting her from her super rewarding work of being a school teacher. And this was in her own damn words.

The Federalist paints her as someone who is angry and seeking vengeance because the taxes killed her business but the slate article it references just has a tiny blurb about it.

“I’m also super pro-Bernie and as a public school teacher, I can see every day how families are struggling,” she said. “People are just trying to make ends meet, and they need things like student loan forgiveness and free education and a lot of the things that Bernie is fighting for.”
