Will "Gulf of America" and "Lake America" stick long term?

Both are official as far as the US government controls such things.

It may interest you to know that different geographical features are called different things in different regions. We can call anything we want whatever we want to call it. That doesn't mean it is recognized by anyone else in the world, just as we don't recognize regional names of things in other parts of the world.
The name change is "official" here, and that is the only place we have any authority to make it official. Go elsewhere in the world, open Google maps, and the Gulf will likely show up as the "Gulf of Mexico" as it always has.

All of my kids and their friends say Gulf of America so there’s a chance for that one to stick imo. They say it’s used in school.
I had to “discipline” my oldest because he was saying Mapletards lost their lake and his mother didn’t like him using that word

Gulf of America has a chance of sticking. Signage has been changed all over the southeast, at a significant cost in some places. It's been replaced on new maps and globes, on Google Earth and other mapping apps. I think it probably stays.
Lake of America? Not a chance.

I am from South La and I have heard the Gulf of Mexico/America called "The Gulf" my entire life (52). I like the name Gulf of America. It actually seems to fit. I could see this one actually staying bc it is in the south.
Lake America, does seem to fit the same way. Maybe bc the US has so many lakes and one gulf. Should have named it after Dolly Parton..lol

Not only will the next pandering Democrat President change it back, he'll likely give up an "American" named geographic feature to some Commie LGBT or a Black person.
Like renaming the Appalachian Mountains after some Civil War "hero" like Hariot Tubman.
