No offense but this woman has two young kids who were just traumatized with the death of their dad and now she thinks this is a good idea to serve in congress? Does she understand there isn't a day care in Congress and that the hours are insane not to mention how is she going to raise two small kids and do this job.

This seems like a terrible idea on many levels for her and her children in my opinion.

The mom of two announced her candidacy in a statement in which she explained she was “running to continue the mission Luke started — to stand up for our Christian values, to fight for our rural agricultural communities, and to deliver real results to move our state forward.”

And you wonder why people think you are clueless ...

/For the record, I think this is a stupid choice but the idea that our legislators work more than 2080 hours per year (roughly a FT job) is moronic ...

Their staffs work normal hours.....and they work more than the elected officials.

Run against her

Or get someone to run against her if you don’t live in the district.

That said, she is gonna whip dat arse come Election Day - if she wants to do it, so be it.

She is a grown arse woman and knows what is best for her kids and her family....you don’t.

Nice thinking, Caveman. If the situation was reversed and it was he running for her position after she was deceased, you would not have even brought up the issue or concern for the children.

The children will be fine and she will win easily on March 20. #JuliaLetlowforCongress

They absolutely have day care, and free health care and a pretty decent salary for a partial year’s work.

George Washington was a great man, general, and president. If he died in office, I don't think I would've wanted Martha stepping in and taking over his job.

I just don't get why someone would vote for the spouse of an elected official. Hell, she might be even better than her husband was, but just because they were married shouldn't mean a damned thing.

Is this now a thing? I guess it’s one job that requires so little abilities that anyone can run.

FYI. Luke's dying wish was for her to run.

You're a clown. I think this is absolutely wonderful.

I'm not completely familiar with her background and qualifications but I know she was a finalist for president of ULM a few months ago. She's not a housewife.

It happens a lot more often than you think. Wives, daughters, etc run when husband/daddy leaves his seat open. Alabama elected Lurleen Wallace when George was term limited. Everyone knew a vote for her, was just a vote for George. Alabama only limits to two consecutive terms, so he ran again when her term was done.

Real life Americans, not slimy lawyers , community organizers, or career politicians, is exactly what we need more of.
