Why would Trump debate a complete disaster like Desantis?

He has nothing to gain and is currently blowing away the field. It doesn't make sense. We already know what Trump is about. He was actually president at one time and his policies were some of the best this country has ever seen.

That’s the problem with politics and people today.
Everything is “what do I have to gain?”
It used to be people debated because they thought their ideas were better and they did so because it was expected and it was for the people.
Sitting out debates is no different than Biden hiding in the basement or ball players sitting out bowl games or “resting for the playoffs” or teams “tanking for the draft”
What happened to honor?
That’s the problem with politics and people today.

Trump attacked DeSantis before his re-election and has been melting and attacking him all year.
Why not go on stage and destroy him? He’s ahead by so much so he has nothing to lose, right? If Ron is as terrible as y’all say then Trump will wipe the floor with him and end the primary.

If the risk/reward analysis shows that Trump will have high reward potential for little risk, Trump will do the debate.
