“Because when Z finally gets on board and Putin refuses to accept a peace deal then it will all be on Putin.”
I have not understood Trump’s almost obsequious approach to Putin while hammering Z at every turn despite Putin being the aggressor. However, your post captures what I hope is going on, ie, that Trump has a plan to pivot to taking a tough stance with Putin at some point to get to a deal. If he can get it done without giving Putin the store, I will happily stuff my face with crow over how he has handled the Russian invasion thus far.

Why can’t he tell Putin to just go back home and let Ukraine be Ukraine?

We are not giving Russia their pre war GDP to fight a way they can’t win. We are doing so for Ukraine.

You know why…
Putin has photos
Putin has photos

Putin will get mostly what he wants. Trump, Ukraine, or Europe have no leverage to push Putin to accept any conditions he doesn’t want too. If Putin doesn’t get everything he wants he will just continue to throw troops into the meat grinder and turn this into a true war of attrition. And Russia has the manpower to outlast Ukraine.

Pyrrhic victory with western support is the best possible outcome for Ukraine.
Killing off a generation of males and having your (((entire))) homeland craterized while civilians flee is highly undesirable. They are ruthlessly conscripting and begging for money, it’s over. Thank goodness Russia is only looking to reclaim a relatively small and very Russian area of Ukraine.
A true leader knows when a surrender is beneficial in warfare, a politician carrying on as a matter of pride and legacy is abhorrent. Zelenskyy needs to be real here.

It’s going to be fun watching y’all cry for 4 years. I know you will be sad with less wars.

Reality. You're missing reality. It's a common problem with liberals. You guys equate recognizing reality with being pro Putin. But not a single rational human being plans to commit to All Out war with Russia. And Ukraine lacks the ability to militarily and the war no matter how much Aid we give them.
You can dislike reality all you like but that doesn't change what reality is. We aren't going to find Ukraine forever. And Ukraine is incapable of bringing them into the war. What hard ball with Putin exactly would you like? It isn't as if Joe Biden took a soft approach and you see how that worked out.
Sometimes in War you lose. It might suck but it is reality

Russia does the same negotiating tactic as the old Soviet Union, Democrats and ex-wives....
"What is mine is mine, what is yours is negotiable".

Why were US officials in a foreign country watching over a color revolution like they were in a box at a sporting event?
What are we doing there in the first place?

Because the US and Russia have never been allies. That’s why NATO was created (USSR).
This whole “whataboutism” argument can go on forever, and as far back as you can count.
So let’s not pretend it begins in Ukraine.
What have CIA, KGB, MI6, Mossad been doing all over the world for decades?
Trump hired Paul Manafort for God’s sake. After his involvement in Ukranian politics on behalf of Russian puppets.
This is a complete 180 for US diplomacy. Siding with Russia over the US intelligence community, and making new alliances with authoritarian dictators is new.
Turning your back on democracies fighting for freedom because the dictators have a bigger army is what is different now. And this began under Trump.

Trump, Ukraine, or Europe have no leverage on Putin in this war. What do you suggest they do? There is nothing that gives Ukraine any advantage in this negotiation. If Ukraine had some advantage then I’d say ok let’s play hard ball but they don’t not a one.
