The next to last paragraph is the money shot where he admits what communists and socialists don't like to actually talk about (that their utopia is going to require some totalitarian enforcement):

quote:

We don’t know what that communist future will look like. We know that our age of automation has created the possibility of free time. We know that we have collectively created the means to sustain all on this planet. But, we also know that we have built this abundance at the cost of environmental devastation. Both climate change and the irrevocable fact of nuclear weapons reduce the original communist hope for collective management of everything; these totalizing threats demands a certain level of totalitarian management. It is my view that an honest communist can now no longer say that the state can be done away with entirely—these true threats require a handful of true bureaucrats to manage them.

I know right? But this time, "I" will be in charge, and "I"'m a better person than Stalin or Mao, so when "I" get ultimate power "I" won't kill millions of people.

What's even better is that a bunch of soy boy, feminists think they'd run this hypothetical communist government. Newsflash, people
like that do not maintain power or keep people in line. This government they masterbate to would be run by a bunch of white males.

Absolute communism would never work out here because of our free market and therefore the capitalist influence. Capitalism, Socialism, Nationalism, and Communism can operate cohesively. After all, we've got every flavor here and have for some time.

Yep. The "No True Scotsman" Fallacy. Really sad how much history is being ignored by the author.

Even if that were true (It's not), the problem comes when "you" aren't in charge anymore.

Not disagreeing with you, just adding on.

The only thing I want to know is this: if the State owns everything, who gets to live in all the nice lake and beach and ski houses across the country, and who gets to live the the 1000 sqft apartments? Seems to me like there will be winners and losers just based on that. There’s a lot of kickass stuff in this country and around the world, are they wanting to turn all this into some sort of time share?

Dead people always seem to vote in lock step with the communists, they really have no choice when they die....So, it’s pretty much Utopia for the rest of the living, until they have to eat...

Capitalism is the only form of economy that can work on its own. All of the others need Capitalism because someone has to make the money.

Socialism, Nationalism, Communism and others will all fail without someone producing.

Capitalism is Boss.

You know what this paragraph says to me? It’s written by a person who lives every second of their life in irrational fear. It’s got it all; fear of automation and technology replacing humans, fear of nukes, and of course fear of environmental catastrophe. So what is their solution to all of these fears? Turn everything over to some central planner bureaucrat and let them run every aspect of our lives so that they can protect us from all of their irrational fears.

Oh absolutely. If the hypothetical "I" were to ever actually gain any power, the brutal mother frickers that helped that person get there would immediately put a bullet in their head and take over.
