Not us.

What antisemitism?

Israel is a country. I made no comments about Jewish people, generally.

Why interrupt your enemy while they’re making a mistake? Silence is the strategy. Every war the US fights for Israel costs trillions, alienates gulf partners and is slowly pushing the GCC states toward China. Did you know Saudi Arabia started selling oil to China in yuan in 2023? Probably not

On the second day after the first strikes Russia was ready to agree to a lot of stuff in the peace agreement that they were not before. That alone says a lot.

Russia is bogged down in Ukraine - China only cares about one thing ... money! With the exception of purchasing oil from Iran that China can afford to buy from a number of other sources, Iran does nothing for China

I am not a strategist so I cannot comment as to their intelligence or actual intentions. I am just of the opinion that China is not looking at this as a hill to die on. They seem to play the long game and believe they have had contingency strategies in place for a while. I don’t know the situation about their energy stockpiles so I can’t comment as to the short term effects if oil imports are cut off.

China has a TON of people. Thats about it.
Extremely overrated on military technologies.
They were a brute force in numbers type of fear for a long time. Now? Who cares?
We are going fight them in the ground over there, ever.

Why would they? Even though it will hurt in the interim wrt to the best crude oil in the world, they have spent the past 20 years building the infrastructure and ability to accommodate all the oil from the GCC and Iran.
They’re watching the US make some really stupid mistakes why intervene?

In all fairness, it hasn’t been a week.

I’m not a doomsdayer about this, but give them a little time for a response before declaring victory.

Do you think they have the ability (or a contingency plan) to offset Middle East imports by increasing the Russian flow?

They’ve been taking bigger deliveries of Russian crude each month for the past few months and that will likely continue. Even if the US somehow takes control of Iranian crude exports it won’t hurt China. This should be evident with how many countries circumvent US sanctions with modified supply chains (India, Iran, Russia, China)

Ultimately, this has all been about China. Think about the setbacks we've given China this year; they have lost the Panama Canal, Venezuela, and now Iran. Trump saw a chance to change the strategic calculus with China and, in the process, eliminate a country that's been a pain in the arse to the world for 47 years.

Cuba will go down next.

Eventually, I could see Trump turn his gaze on the South China Sea. China has been an a-hole in that region for a couple of decades now. Trump might decide to check them.

What can they do?

China finally as something they've been wanting forever, Sailors with more than 10 years of experience and they're not about to risk them to confront the US. If they send their fleet to confront the US they'd be gambling it all on Trump backing down, which thus far seems like a stupid bet.

Their options would be fight not only the US Navy but land based air power as well, and their combat lifespan would be measured in hours (if that) as they'd get our undivided attention immediately. Or they could bluff, but when it gets called and the turn around and head back to China they lose a lot of credibility.

If they were going to lift a finger to do more than type something they'd have done it during Israel's 12 day war against Iran but they're not that stupid.

As for Russia what can they do? Send air power over the Caspian Sea to protect Iran? Sounds like a great way to lose valuable assets and the Russian Navy would be unable to launch a meaningful defense of Iran.
