Why do people care about the Popes political views
Because the Pope's politics are tainted by American taxpayer money. The Catholic 'refugee' resettlement programs are huge cash cows. Trump cutting the programs has put a dent in these organizations, therefore, the Pope speaks out against Trump. The Pope has become yet another piglet at the teet of the American taxpayer. Such a shame.

Also, I would like to direct the Pope to the books of Joshua and Judges for a refresher on what God said about war.

Shouldn't the Pope be republican simply based on abortion?

Next thing we know they’ll be advocating post birth abortions.

I think they already do that. I knew a lady from Washington where there was a convent that had a pond. For some reason the pond needed to be emptied and guess what they found? Heaps of baby skeletons.

Every non-Catholic who thinks we Roman Catholics are bound by every word leaving the Pope’s mouth needs to Google “ex cathedra.”

(Many Catholics also need to look it up.)

I do agree Catholics need to look up what they are obliged to believe

quote:

Can. 750 §1. A person must believe with divine and Catholic faith all those things contained in the word of God, written or handed on, that is, in the one deposit of faith entrusted to the Church, and at the same time proposed as divinely revealed either by the solemn magisterium of the Church or by its ordinary and universal magisterium which is manifested by the common adherence of the Christian faithful under the leadership of the sacred magisterium; therefore all are bound to avoid any doctrines whatsoever contrary to them.

§2. Each and every thing which is proposed definitively by the magisterium of the Church concerning the doctrine of faith and morals, that is, each and every thing which is required to safeguard reverently and to expound faithfully the same deposit of faith, is also to be firm-ly embraced and retained; therefore, one who rejects those propositions which are to be held definitively is opposed to the doctrine of the Catholic Church.

Can. 751 Heresy is the obstinate denial or obstinate doubt after the reception of baptism of some truth which is to be believed by divine and Catholic faith; apostasy is the total repudiation of the Christian faith; schism is the refusal of submission to the Supreme Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him.

Can. 752 Although not an assent of faith, a religious submission of the intellect and will must be given to a doctrine which the Supreme Pontiff or the college of bishops declares concerning faith or morals when they exercise the authentic magisterium, even if they do not intend to proclaim it by definitive act; therefore, the Christian faithful are to take care to avoid those things which do not agree with it.

For those that didn't know the bizarre jargon, solemn magisterium means supposed infallible ex cathedra, and ordinary/authentic magisterium means all other kinds of teaching.

Because it is NOT him explaining to people how to find salvation . That is what he desperately avoids.

One wants to believe that the leader of one's church (or any organization they are affiliated with) is not an historical, political or moral idiot. That seems like a reasonable desire. I cringe when I hear the Pope or various Bishop's spout politically correct inanities which are cloaked in the authority of his position. It's like hearing you nephew at Thanksgiving dinner declare for Communism. You vomit a little in your mouth and move on.

The Pope expressed a view point against war - why would anyone expect the Pope to say any different?

As a Catholic, the Pope should be concerned exclusively about maintaining the Faith and saving souls. Every response to political situations should be expressed through this as the successor to Peter. Unfortunately, the last two Popes has been little more than international politicians seemingly pushing for globalism.

As a Catholic, I love the pope. I follow his edicts and I pray with him, for him, etc. He is Christ's true emissary on earth and I hold him in that regard. I hold the value of human life high, and I don't wish for the deaths of anyone. I'm free to disagree with him politically however.

What kind of a pope would want war? I don't really see the "gotcha" here either. I'm glad my pope prays for wars to end. But radical Islam will nuke us the minute they have the opportunity. Sometimes praying alone won't stop that. I'm happy the pope has my spiritual life in mind, but I don't see him as a statesman.

I can’t believe he referred to the pope as “weak on crime.” LOL

I think it’s in the job description.

It's the equivalent of taking advise from Jim Jones or Warren Jeffs.

This is his purpose to defend Pope Francis helping illegals avoid rule of law via the mostly run by social worker, Catholic Charities. He's the Obama Pope

Why torch 70 million Catholic votes?

This isn’t a peace plea.
It’s a desperate move to lift the pressure before the audits hit.
Trump just told 1.4 billion Catholic, your institution is compromised.

Those low views of the Pope are not historical. His office as successor of St. Peter demands respect and submission, especially as he speaks on faith and morals.
They are historical. And political views are neither of what you just listed. Catholics have never been mandated to submit to every opinion the Pope has. I can respect him without agreeing with him on matters other than faith and morals.

Because the liberal commie nerd Pope just went on 60 minutes and blasted him in front of the world? You think that warrants no acknowledgment or defense?

It is in the best interests of the Roman Catholic Church, the USA and the world that the Vatican publicly release details as to the subject matter of the recent meeting between Pope Leo XIV and Obama's political strategist, David Axelrod.

This incident is harming the Church in the USA far more than it is harming the USA itself.

Transparency might defuse the situation. But we're never going to see that from this Pope or David Axlerod.

This Pope is as bad as the last ... if not worse, tbh.

Even his MAGA brother warned us that he is a dyed in the wool libtard.
