It's actually the biggest form of welfare

I used to tell my Dad when he started getting his social security abou 8 years ago that the money was not his....his portion got used up by a family living in the Iberville Housing Projects back in the early 1990's
That would get him all riled up and really piss my mother off

did you not pay federal income taxes?
do you no consider food stamps, Section 8, Medicaid, and, er, welfare, to be welfare?

Depends on the individual getting it.

b. do the "youth" have the economic power to make better jobs, or are they stuck in a system where economic promise is limited?
This is a dumb argument

I guess you and I have different definitions of welfare.
I guess my original response to you got deleted, but you're an idiot. You don't get to just make up definitions of words. THe government defines welfare as any program that pays more money to someone then they have paid in. Therefor social security is NOT considered welfare because you can't collect more than you paid in, but SSI and SSD ARE welfare because you certainly can collect more than you paid in.
In fact SSI and SSD are the real reasons Social security is failing. If we would have just stuck with "no one can collect more than they have paid in" everything would be fine.

SS is literally a forced savings bond contribution at about 1/3rd the ROI. Not only is it not welfare, it is in fact the opposite.

how so?
you expect a generation of kids without capital to invest or economic power to suddenly create good jobs and promotion avenues?

It's actually the biggest form of welfare. They will argue that the paid into it like they had a choice. Regardless its welfare

you can literally make this argument about all government redistribution plans, if you stretch enough

quite the opposite in most cases, it's planned theft

Did not know that. Are long-term disability insurance programs run by private entities also welfare? I understand they’re not the government, but you can receive more from them than you have paid in. Isn’t spreading that risk around amongst a pool called insurance?

is there force involved?
is this contractual and based in consent/agreement?

well that makes a big difference

under certain circumstances and when it's voluntary

Old people collect Social security, not supplemental income. How can you be so stupid to not know the difference after it's been explained no less than 3 times in this fricking thread?
Oh man, I used the wrong acronym for social security benefits. My bad. Carry on with your melting over trivial shite
