Too many dreamers and people that annoy you leeching off the system to have anything close to the health care you speak. When you have that many unproductive members of society you can never have nice things

Because the cost would be astronomical with our population. Compare the US population with those countries and their taxes.

I heard a few years ago that you could take all the 1% income and it would only pay for healthcare fore less than a year.

Healthcare expenditure in this nation is about $12k per person each year. About $4T total.

Stop and think of how many government run entities are efficient. I can't imagine how bloated the bureaucracy would be if the feds were completely in charge of healthcare.

Think VA for everyone!

Those countries wouldn't be able to spend half that but for Uncle Sam protecting them for the last 80+ years

Doctors probably wouldn't like that very much.

Doctors in the US make significantly more than doctors in Europe. According to various sources, the average annual salary of physicians in the US ranges from $218,173 to $316,000. In contrast, the average annual salary of physicians in Europe ranges from $96,480 to $183,000. Germany and the UK have the highest physician salaries in Europe, but they are still far below the US level.

There is your gap bro.

The total spent in Ukraine is like 2 weeks of entitlement spending.

How can we not afford to do it within the current budget that so many other nations can?
Because the US spends way too much money on defense of other countries and we have something like nearly half of US households not paying any federal income taxes. Europe can have universal healthcare because a far higher percentage of their population contributes to society instead of leeches off those who work. But even then, wealthy Europeans with the means to pay often come to the US when they have a condition that needs the best doctors and treatments in the world.

Doctors' salaries account for about 8% of U.S. healthcare costs. Now, subtract US malpractice insurance costs out of that number, and perhaps re-examine your premise.

The Medical Industrial Complex makes people far too much money for it to be socialized. Try suggesting that weapons manufacturers become state run and see how far you get.

Only a retarded commie would trade more bureaucratic cost so we can pay doctors less.

You can thank Obamacare for that high number. We(tax payers) are subsidizing more people with Medicaid due to Obamacare.

If you are ready for waiting list, less R&D,less developments in the medical field, then go for universal healthcare. There is a reason people come to the US for treatments.

What does military spending have to do with GDP spent on healthcare?

It's easier to spend more money on social programs, when you don't have to spend near as much on your military, due to the United States protecting you.

No one should want the US Government in charge of your healthcare.

The federal government never does anything right. Healthcare is already fricked BECAUSE of the government.

Your premise is flawed. It presumes that the US budget SHOULD be as bloated and overextended as it is.

That we need to tax the rich and raise taxes to afford it.
You can’t even balance the current budget if you taxed every dollar. earned over $1,000,000. Universal healthcare would add $4 Trillion in new annual spending at minimum. Anyone saying “Tax the rich to pay for universal healthcare” is lying to you. The only way it happens is with massive tax increases on the middle and lower classes.
