Actual prohibition regulation link

Why was this passed? Who supported this?

Do you really want the State or city police actively campaigning against your preferred candidate?

It also keeps public school teachers from openly campaigning to your kids.

I think it is a good law. I wish it was enforced more aggressively.

Because 99% of people in education are emotional and only see issues from one side of the coin.

If you think it is enforced at all when a certain side does it, you’d be laughed at. There is an understanding that infuriates me that if you believe a certain way, the rules don’t apply.

It’s why I moved on from gov work. It’s depressing. One side is treated with kid gloves if at all while the other has the rules enforced against.

For federal employees there's the Hatch Act.

Most private employers don’t want you voicing an opinion either.

Why? Because they don’t want the protest cancel brigade showing up

Do you actually not know or is this one of those “I just want to argue so I’ll ask fake questions” threads?

Teachers are not covered by civil service rules.

Teachers, other school board employees, and sheriff deputies can run for office and campaign as long as it is not during work hours. Their political speech is protected on social media as long as they are not on the clock.

state employees and teachers (if employees of any level of government)
Shouldn’t be allowed to vote, let alone voice their opinions on social media.

Doesn't apply to educators - there's many of us that are very vocal.

Nothing against you personally, as you could be a great guy with great opinions. But I generally dislike teachers being vocal. Our kids are being indoctrinated way too much.

Teachers are supposed to be politically neutral in the classroom, but can be political when they are off the clock. Teachers and sheriff's deputies are appointed to statutory positions.

Civil service government jobs are not supposed to be affected by who gets elected. The trade off is that Civil servants are not supposed to be involved in politics.

They shouldn’t be sharing those opinions with students during class time. But what they do on their own time away from school is their business.

Convince me that they’re qualified to opine on anything but teaching. Just because I have electricity connected to my home doesn’t make me an electrical engineer.

Too many Chiefs - not enough Indians. We have all the geniuses we can use.

Agree 100% with you, but I'd be lying if I said I don't present activities and discuss topics that enable them to come to the "right" decision on their own.

Anyways, since you're probably near Lake Broken Bow, I'm envious and am not goinhg to make an enemy of you. Frickin' love that place (especially pre tourist trap days).

You're a fricking dumbass. Your kids are being indoctrinated by their phones. I bet you never, ever monitor what they look at on their phones.

You have no fricking clue about the daily battle teachers wage to keep kids off their phones at school and doing their work. Phones that in most cases were bought and paid for by dumbass parents who don't do shite to monitor what they follow on TikTok and other social media.

Your kids are being indoctrinated under your own roof. If you can't grasp this, there's no hope for you or your kids. I'm sick and tired of dumbass parents who want to blame teachers because they don't have the fricking balls to actually parent their kids instead of spoiling them. Don't run your mouth about teachers when you let your kids watch whatever the frick they want on their phones.
