Generally people in my experience that rarely watch sporting events much less soccer.
Then when the World Cup comes around they’re talking about it every day like they grew up kicking a ball in some favela
It’s always the Ukraine first double vaxxed types too
So obvious it’s just a virtue signal to appear worldly and cultured to others

Because fans throw shite at players, the best chance you're going to get is when they come out the tunnel. Fans are less likely to throw batteries and debris at children.

I actually think some are hating it. It's showing the US in too good of light. People were hoping for a huge failure on our part.

Well if you go onto reddit they would tell you no right wingers like soccer.
It's just a weird thing from both sides of this. It's a global game. People from all groups like it.
And I want to add everything about the world cup is political. Where they select to host it and the cities the games are in and allocation of funds is all politics.
What it doesn't have to be is a battle of American left and right.

You see Liberal non-sports fans get excited about it, because this lets them feel like they are bonding with the "cultured" Europeans.
This is also why they're so alarmed by Europeans having positive experience with rural and everyday American things; it's like a betrayal to them.
