Generally people in my experience that rarely watch sporting events much less soccer.
Then when the World Cup comes around they’re talking about it every day like they grew up kicking a ball in some favela

Because the World Cup is highlighting conservative values and international visitors are experiencing freedom and the American way of life. And the liberals deplore that.

Well, I’m as conservative as can be and I’m into it. I played and I coach now.
It’s been a pretty awesome World Cup so far. It’s been pretty fun watching the international fans experience the U.S. for the first time. Oh, and frick liberals and the communists that is taking over their party.

Actually decided to look into it. Studies have been done on this and it has found that sports fandom is about as close to exactly the same as possible among political affiliations.
