FBI didn't have radar back in the day. Once they got radar, school shootings blew up

Well, while I was born in the mid 60’s, I grew up in America, not Mogadishu, and I don’t know anyone who fretted over school shootings prior to my birth. I think they referred to it as Happy Days for just such a reason.
I’m pretty sure you’re making this up in your head.
You just moved the goal posts on me.

We were talking about mass shootings, and you changed it to school shootings.
There’s no question school violence has radically increased, as kids today are far more disturbed than 50 years ago. But back to the subject. There was way more crazy stuff going on in the 60’s and 70’s. Assassinations right and left, bank robberies, plane hijackings, the statistics are hard to believe when you look back on it.

Social media has destroyed our country.

Moral decline, casual sex, little meaningful chirch attendance, broken homes, fatherless boys, low self image, mental health.

In my personal observation, we allowed kids to be kids
If you were lucky you got your porn from National Geograbpic
Showing dead and bloody bodies at dinnertime stared with the Vietnam War
You settled differences face to face on the playground with your fists
Nuns taught you the fear of God with liberal use of a hickory stick
You played with kids in your neighborhood and not in your moms basement on the internet
Wrasslin was local and it was clear who the good guys were
You ate what grandma cooked, not fast food

This premise is incorrect
Practically speaking it's not.
There may be more guns and there may even be more guns per capita, and there may be more illegal guns and more illegal guns per capita.
But as far as this applies to law abiding citizens, it's irrelevant.
A gun owner in the 1960s might own 2 guns. The same average gun owner now might own 8, because people own more of everything now (more house, more car, more everything). But the chances that that person or someone connected with him are going to take one of those guns and commit a mass shooting with it aren't affected by the fact that it used to be 2 and now it's 8.

Whatever a society tolerates, it gets more of. Societal norms now include all manner of was formerly considered mental illness, and given social media power, it’s hard for families to hold the sanity line against what is essentially a Pagan cultural onslaught. Back when I was an early teen, nobody would have even thought such as those thoughts did not even exist in our world. Pandora’s Box is open and will run its bloody course. With the help of the DEI delusion.

The difference is the media. You didn't really grow up with 247 news... nor a media that was pushing agendas.
There has always been mass murders. I don't say shooting because those are not even the most deadly.
This has been happening from the beginning. And the largest school massacre in the USA was done 100 years ago and ZERO guns were involved.

"Why now, and not back then if nothing has changed with people or culture?"
I'm old enough to remember seeing guns in the trucks of classmates on rear window racks at school with no thoughts of anything bad. Believe it or not there was a time when these things were not even in our imaginations! My generation was never exposed to drugs for children to take just for having a lack of attention in class. I have a great dread that many of these people have been on some kind of mind altering drugs that didn't exist when I was younger. Notice how there's never any investigation about that concerning these shootings. Think about it, how can anyone decide to take a high powered weapon and randomly murder completely innocent people (mostly children)who they don't even know. I believe this is more than mere evil. These people are out of their minds! The question is what has caused this?
We must demand more accountability concerning the real root causes of these events and there will be the answer to the evil that is behind it!

Well, they took GOD out of schools so there's that. A lot of kids have no morals and no hope.

I have a weird take on this, but I think in all of human history, there has been (and will continue to be) a small (very small) portion of the population who are murderous psychopaths. They’ll always kill people. However, in the 70s, it was serial killers like Ted Bundy / Gacy / BTK etc.
The difference today is 1) it’s nearly impossible to consistently get away with murder over a period of time like they did, with modern technology 2) people these days are used to getting everything immediately (Amazon, Spotify, Netflix, etc), so instead of waiting / stalking their victims, they’d rather get all 5, 10, or 20 of them at once. The murderous psychopaths who are intent on killing people, they’re too impatient for the traditional serial killer ways.
I’m not being sarcastic or trying to be funny. I really do think that’s what it is.
To add to that, they keep getting all this media coverage, giving kids ideas and inspiring them to “get in the limelight”.

"Let's not act like one single measure somehow means the gold ol days were actually good ol. People have always been shitbags."
Big Scrub TX,
Couldn't disagree more! I was here during that time and the ones radically fighting integration were ALL Democrat politicians and DEMOCRAT KKK members! Thats right, the KKK was an exclusive democrat organization! The overwhelming majority of people just wanted a good education for their children.
