I don't think he understands what a "wage earner" is either.

That would be Newt Gingrich

Its a false claim to give any credit to Bill Clinton. As the chart below demonstrates, Clinton was a huge spender until Gingrich reigned him in after the '94 elections. Reminder Clinton was elected in '92

Then after 9/11 everything went south again

I like your post, but this quote is just not true. Our economy is substantial. We produce a tremendous amount, and we are the most productive people in the world (this is not just due to human capital but to infrastructure and law). The US is the second largest manufacturer in the world by more than twice #3. We produce far more technology than any other country, and we have the highest GDP. And our GDP is based much less on government spending than China, which is number two.

Was this the year he paid enough in taxes to singlehandedly fund, arm, and stock a state-of-the-art USN aircraft carrier? Maybe exaggerated, but I remember reading or hearing something along those lines

It pains me to say this but it is Clinton.

“ Not because he was ideologically the most conservative president, but because by fiscal results he was the most fiscally conservative president of the last 50 years.

Clinton happened to be in office during the dot com boom and the resulting spike in tax receipts. Spending was never really curbed, we spent more every year just like always. As soon as tax receipts went back to normal we were back in deficit land, and that would have happened regardless of who was president.

well here's what i've learned boy how to stay married 41 years how long have you been married junior? i've learned how to raise two kids to adult hood, through college and launched into careers. how many adult children have raised jethrine? i've learned how to make enough money that i don't have to be worried about the price of gas and groceries. you needn't concern yourself about my heath, my dad lived to be 87 and i'm in much better shape than he was and my maternal grandfather lived to be 99.

that's the only thing that matters.

are you one of the 63% of merican's that can't cover an unexpected $500 expense?

Clinton was forced into fiscal conservatism when Gingrich and the contract with America obliterated the Dems because Clinton’s policies were rejected in his first 2 years.

Clinton referred to the "Contract WITH America" as "Contract ON America" then adopted it as his campaign platform in 1996. He, with the help of his media allies, took credit for the entire thing showing what a real weasel Slick Willy really was and how dishonest the media are.

let me help you understand something boy in a nation where the top 10% of wage earners pay 70% of all collected income taxes no one is actually fiscally conservative and that includes you jethro.

The use of boy implies youth, perhaps you are the youth but I will refrain from calling you boy.

Here is an observation from someone older than yourself

My understanding of taxation is a bit older than yours. It is not if DJT is correct in preferring tariffs to taxation, it is more it is far out of date.

Prior to World War I, SCOTUS said income tax was unconstitutional. We were a smaller (and growing) country and tariffs alone no income tax was really needed. The massive debt from the war needed to be addressed, and tariffs alone would never cover it. Income Tax was termed "Patriotic" and Income Tax became the go to over tariffs.

Much has changed inside the USA since and outside the USA, and it is no longer the panacea of someone as old as DJT who would have grown up in a generation were his parents and grandparents views influenced his own.

Would be happy to debate taxes with you, but in a civil conversation more common with my youth when we were the UNITED States of America, not a house divide that I see today.

And for God's sake quit calling me "boy". As a man of color, I do not appreciate that tone.

People with genuinely fulfilling lives usually don’t spend their time trying to flex imaginary - and we can all tell it’s imaginary - superiority on strangers online.

Nothing says “my life is amazing” quite like desperately trying to measure strangers’ worth by their checking account in an online argument. His posts smell like unpaid truck note and Monster Energy Drink.
