White people invented currency
And white totalitarians who believed they could create Utopia banned money. It was the only way to eliminate greed from the perfect society. Sparta tried it by banning gold and silver. Didn't work out well for them at all. Plato considered the idea in his writings.

Faught got triggered after the choir's black conductor reportedly told the audience that the selections were "American songs" performed "for everyone" and "have no ethnicity."
Okay. This is an example on people taking things out of control context.
All WSU choir had to do was briefly summarize the origins of these songs as being created by Blacks but later adapted into the American lexicon.
There is no need to be upset after this. All it needed was proper addressing.

It's remarkable how completely America and Europe have forgotten that two wrongs don't make a right.
The right-out-in-the-open officially sanctioned double standard against white people that now exists in this country is clearly an attempt to fix a historical wrong by instituting a present-day wrong.
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is another saying the wisdom of which we collectively have forgotten.
It's all madness.

There's no need to be upset and there's no need to address anything. Choirs sing; that's what they do.

Ok, how bout this...we give white people all the things that they created and black people all the things they created. Nobody can use the other’s stuff. Let’s see how that works out. Deal?
Dude, did you just try and give away peanut butter?
Peanut butter is another white invention. Marcellus Gilmore Edson was a white Canadian. Even it was a black invention, I would trade all the white inventions for it just to see the racebaiters' faces when they realized they screwed up.

So, are there white songs that blacks aren't allowed to sing?
Now you know why so many were upset over gay Naz X and his cowboy bullshite song
But that was racism

Apparently The Black Student Union could use a few more English classes.

"So apparently Western Michigan University thinks it's ok for WHITE peoples to sing negro spirituals while the instructor talking bout 'these songs don't belong to one race.' They sure as hell DO,"
I better not hear some black choir singing Amazing Grace, then.

frick all that. When black folks do Shakespeare, do they summarize, "Well, this was written by an old white dude?"
To quote Morgan Freeman, "Black history IS American history."
Cultural appropriation isn't "a thing" - it's something folks made up to have yet something else about which to get upset (as illustrated here).
I know it's tough (and black folks have gotten the shaft for A LOT of our history, no argument here), but sometimes you have to take "Yes" as an answer.
We've mostly arrived over the past 50 years. It's never going to be perfect. It's time to celebrate black achievement as just another beautiful part of the American tapestry and not isolate or single out black exceptionality except when that is the purpose of the exhibition (which, frankly, IMHO, should be rare or even eliminated completely).
Just my $0.02 and probably not worth that...

I wonder if they're going to demand a segregated student center with a Popeye's in response like at OU

Someone call Hootie and tell him to knock the country shite off.
And, Charley Pride? Take his black arse out the country music hall of fame. Black folks just don't belong there.
The blues came directly from Scotch- Irish ballads and laments. Ours.
But they can keep that gay- arse jazz.

Seriously though, I've always had a problem with white choirs trying to sing old negro spirituals...it just ain't right!

George Washington Carver was one of my favorite biographies. I read it when I was 9. He said 'I never invented anything. I created new applications for things that other people invented.'

So can we get triggered when some black songstress butchers Amazing Grace or Silent Night?

A song about the rape of a slave girl sold in the market down in New Or-leens?
