Andrew Jackson was a legitimate war fighter and grew up in the backwoods with constant Indian attacks. He reportedly had 100 duels. In a duel in 1806 he took a bullet in the chest, kept standing, and then shot the other man dead. It feels like he could throw down.

More serious answer: Truman. He was an officer in WW1 and whipped a unit into shape after they ran off multiple previous officers. Needed major balls for that.

I mean, it's prime Teddy Roosevelt and it isn't particularly close. I will say that Abe Lincoln would surprise some baws in here. Andy Jackson and George Washington would be solid picks.
