It's the duty of younger generations to make things better.
It's the duty of the older generations to give them that chance.

Home buying complaints are mostly a gen z thing
"Home buying complaints" is a conversational shift.
The conversation addressed the stereotypical desire to buy when affordability was less an issue. Until CV19, GenY was disinterested in home ownership. GenZ is interested, but stuck with affordability issues. GenZ would give its I-teeth for opportunities GenY turned down.

This simply is what it is. It was/is well documented behavior.
E.g., The 2014 Harris Poll / Eventbrite Study found:
quote:

For past generations, owning a first car was a rite of passage. Buying a first home signaled achievement of the American Dream. These life milestones were once important factors for identity-creation. But millennials aren’t as interested in owning a home or buying a car as previous generations were at their age. True now more than in past generations, for millennials, real value is derived from experiencing, not possessing.

With an emphasis on collecting experiences rather than acquiring tangible goods, millennial spending is markedly different than that of older generations at their age, and is a reflection of their aspirations: More than 3 in 4 millennials (78%) would choose to spend money on a desirable experience or event over buying something desirable and 55% of millennials say they’re spending more on events than ever before, with no signs of slowing.

Millennials crave more experiences: Not shockingly, more than 8 in 10 millennials (82%) attended or participated in a variety of live experiences in the past year, ranging from parties, concerts, festivals, performing arts and races and themed sports—and more so than other generations. But millennials can’t get enough. 72% say they would like to increase their spending on experiences rather than physical things in the next year, pointing to a move away from materialism and a growing demand for real-life experiences.

Experiences help shape identity & create life-long memories: Nearly 8 in 10 (77%) millennials say some of their best memories are from an event or live experience they attended or participated in. 69% believe attending live events and experiences make them more connected to other people, the community, and the world.

FOMO drives millennials’ experiential appetite: Nearly 7 in 10 (69%) millennials experience FOMO. In a world where life experiences are broadcasted across social media, the fear of missing out drives millennials to show up, share and engage.

To be fair, boomers built the strongest economy in the world by far,

Boomers parents built the strongest economy in the world and then the boomers took the reins culminating in the 2008 crash when millenials stepped in and saved the economy

Millenials are the greatest generation. Boomers are the participation trophy generation. They went to college for free and got a good job by shaking the bossmans hand then they got a 6k house

When I started working minimum wage was 2:65$, I had to buy retreads for my retreads. 2.65$ don’t but you much in any economy! I went to McDonald’s and ate .50 cheeseburgers; this generation goes to chipotle and Starbucks every day!when I say, hey why don’t you go buy a loaf of bread and a bottle of ketchup to eat ketchup sandwiches they say that’s gross and to unhealthy. When I say hey join the military they say. But I don’t want to live that lifestyle. Always always an excuse; life is so unfair; you had it better. Lmfao you hv no unearthly idea what you are talking about!

Clinton, W Bush, McCain, Romney are the same people and were the architects of a lot of the things I listed so I don't know what the point of your post is

This isn't a Republican vs Dem conversation

Also lots of the leadership in congress for the last 20 years are cut from the same cloth as the 4 up above and have been heavily supported by boomers on both sides of the aisle

So let me know where boomers were the first generation to buck the establishment before 2016 which is what the post I was responding to said

If they really wanted to buck the system they would have elected Perot or Buchanan in 1992 when they were the larges bloc. also had the chance to vote for Buchanan in 1996

They were literally the largest share of homebuyers by 2018 so
over 50% of older millenials owned homes in 2020

And outside of major, super expensive metros like NY, LA, etc it was way higher for all millennials

Boomers were the largest Perot bloc.

I just don't get the beef. E.g., Millennials have NEVER voted in a majority for anything other than a Democrat POTUS candidate. Not ever! Not once! But that is somehow a Boomer or X problem?

Boomers vote against a boomer that millennials overwhelmingly support, and that's a boomer problem because the guy millennials elected ... is a boomer?

That really is where you are trying to take this?

They won't. They will just say that the younger generation isn't owed anything. Laugh in your face on how they are living high off the hog off your suffering.

I just think boomers did not have access to info like the post internet portions of society. They were basically lied to and truth was hidden before them. It’s why folks kept electing the Bush family all the while manufacturing was whittled out and shipped off to help China become the behemoth it is now.

But if you didn’t seek out the info, you’d never know at the time. Not all boomers are bad, not all have contributed to where America is now, but the elected officials from both parties of the boomer population certainly should take the blame.

As would be expected in an adult cohort significantly underrepresented in that category by historic comparison.

Silent Generation: 55% owned a home by age 30.
Baby Boomers: 48% owned a home by age 30.
Gen X: 43% owned a home by age 30.
Millennials: 33% owned a home by age 30, despite the favorable market thru 2021.

Again, those GenY surveys, interviews, etc about spending preferences were not answered by Boomers, GenX or GenZ. They were answered by millennials. Those answers were headscratchers for both earlier and subsequent gens. But they form the GenY stereotype

You have a very valid point here

No he doesn’t. Boomers are a varied group. Some voted for fiscal discipline and some voted for profligate spending. The group the OP should be going after is the group that voted for profligate spending, and that group is comprised of Greatest Generation, boomers, Xers, millennials, etc.
