When did this board get so divided?

I fully support both Trump and Ron. I recognize Trump has a much higher likelihood of winning the Republican nomination for 2024 and if he does fall short, he'll simply be too old and possibly tarnished to run again in 2028. I think DeSantis is a an amazing governor that will be a great president, but I also recognize that he's facing a very uphill battle in this nomination pursuit but will be a clear favorite if Trump isn't in the race.
From 2016 all through early 2022 there was a decidedly positive sentiment about Trump. Most all recognized that he had won back to back elections handily and been cheated out of the second but was still a great candidate and president. From 2020 on people also recognized DeSantis had his head on straight and could be great for the country as well.
In the last year or so there's been a really nasty turn, and it's senseless. Are all these angry people turning against Trump, or is it new posters picking fights?

Trump has debased himself, largely. It was clear in 2020 that he lost his fastball and he's just super cringe most of the time these days.
That cringe has been effective in his super fans believing whatever spin/propaganda Trump and his influencers spread, but it has had the opposite effect outside of the echo chamber. You answered your own question with that first sentence. When it became obvious that DeSantis was a viable candidate, Trump went all in with "DeSanctimonious".

Lots of eyes have been opened during and since the failed wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We were all conditioned to think that our institutions were protecting us and defending liberty. We have since learned that these institutions are largely corrupt (especially at the top) and that we are in serious peril. Economic and social collapse loom. We gave them power to prosecute a war against terror and they turned that power into a weapon against our people and our sovereignty.
