Any cattle farmer that is going out of business right now should be labeled as a complete failure in agriculture business. 400 to 500 lb calves are bringing 1500 to 2000 a piece. A idiot and worst cattle manager ever could screw up and make money in this market. I am happy for them but this supply shortage is causing food/protein sources to sky rocket. I do not want the government involved but they are main reason for the high prices we are seeing today. Fix the supply problem then get the government out of grocery stores period.

Temporary influx giving domestic beef producers time to expand their herds, … and inflation relief prior to midterms … IMO

We allow Vietnamese seafood, why not Argentinian beef?
I read that China rejected tons of Argentine beef because they inject their cattle with an antibiotic that is banned in China. I haven’t fact checked it though. Just read it a few minutes ago.

The federal government should stay out of the beef market and not do things that make normal prices rise.

Cattle ranchers are pissed at at Trum

frick those ninjas! They drive up the price for no fricking reason, and they get mad?

It didn't cost a single dollar more to let a cow graze, post covid. Yet they colluded and raised prices double.

Shortage my arse, not ince have I walked into a supermarket and there was no meat stocked. It was a con job from day 1.

The high prices of beef are one more result of the multinational corporations, Big Ag, that manipulate world wide prices to benefit their profits at American tax payer expense.
Trump's attempting to help regular folks paying the price.

Nah. It is mostly due to how we force ranchers to use only a couple of different packers that are halfway across the country from them. We have a bill in Congress to fix that, but it will likely never pass.

That's exactly what I said!!! Big Ag! Same as all the other big multinational corporations that frick over America for their profit.
You should do some more reading about it.... basically all the same just different
industries.

From the world wide interwebs..

Four companies—JBS, Cargill, Tyson, and National Beef—control about 85% of U.S. beef processing, with JBS being the largest beef packer in the world.

Uhmmm.. I wonder if they manipulate the herd sizes?

I'll take Argentina beef. I'll take Chilean beef. The big 4 don't give a shite about us...I don't give a shite about them.

This is one of those situations where no matter what the President does, someone will criticize.

He is trying to lower prices of ground beef for people at the grocery store. That is good. It is high right now.

But cattle ranchers will bitch and moan it is a betrayal.

I am a cattle rancher, and I fully support his decision to try to bring prices down.

Herd size is mainly due to prolonged drought in the western us combined with higher prices that discourage producers from holding back females to grow their herd. It’s hard to keep a heifer worth 2k or more just so she might have a calf in 18 months

I hate it, the dip in supply is because of the massive push against beef in the past 20 years with the green initiative so it drove young farmers away from the profession.

Now with higher prices more Americans want to become farmers.

This temporary price reduction will hurt us more in the long run. I want Americans first.

If you want to reduce the cost of living stop fricking bombing the Middle East

There's an overwhelming supply of pork running around the south.
We stop shipping pure beef to blue states. Mix beef and pork blend to blue states. And we forget to tell the muzzies of this.
The real stuff only goes to red states.

Don’t import beef, people cry because prices too high.

Import beef, cry that we are screwing the ranchers.

Do we do the same for US o&g producers?
