That's a valid point, and a mark against Trump.
We, as conservatives, could also help spread the proper message to overcome Trump's shortcomings instead of just complaining. I think that would be more beneficial in the long-term.

Beef prices remain high....are the US cattlemen really suffering?
The big problem are the giant companies that have put the 200 acre farms out of business....Tyson, Smithfield, etc...

I was on a cattle farm with the owner/farmer and he was not the slightest bit upset or concerned about the new supply coming in. In fact, he was extremely thankful and blessed at how lucky he was to be in the situation he is with mature cattle.

If our own meat packing producers are going to gouge their fellow citizens then allow competition to remind them how that works.

Yes sir, of course ...I'd prefer some assistance for the 15% of cattle ranchers like yourself...like what we do for Farmers during prolonged bad weather conditions.
My buddy raises cattle but on a small scale - sells to boutique butcher shops and fancy restaurants. He's happy and content...but he shares with me the difficulty of large scale cattle ranching...
It's pretty nuanced and definitely the large scale buyers like Walmart and grocery chains play a role...in the profit margins.
But...I'd still like GOOD foreign beef to be readily available.

All for it and I support the ranchers. It’s not mutually exclusive. They need to get to work and provide more beef as quickly as feasible. Do not let anyone fool you regarding Argentina beef. It’s some of the finest in the world. I have visited several times, and it is grass fed and fabulous.

You would be surprised at how well McDonalds is able to vertically integrate all of its supply chain and how it manages its suppliers.
Some of them are subsidiaries so McDonalds can control the price and the quality. That is why every year when there is a tomato shortage, McDonalds is somehow unaffected by this because they own or manage their own tomato farms.

I have a small ranch in the Rockies (just 10 acres). The guy who used to take care of the pastures is a “local rancher”.
Ed spent his whole life harvesting hay and alfalfa, at first for others but increasingly for himself as he acquired property. He also runs cattle on national park lands.
Ed gave up working for me, and most of his other clients. because he is making so much money on cattle. The man who started out a poor cowboy, who spent much of his life moving hand lines and riding horses on round-ups, is now rich. And he did it by raising beef.
To your point: There isn’t anything killing “local ranchers”.
And BTW, the man who I hired after Ed is Fernando, an illegal immigrant from Mexico who married an American. He started out as a hand for a landscape business and now has his own business. He works hard and is reliable. Fernando will be rich in another 15 years, just like ED. Another hard worker who is achieving the American dream.

That is so incorrect that I wonder about your motives.
Covid caused the shutdown of meat packing facilities. This created a shortage of meat, not cows on the hoof. And a shortage did what shortages always do; it drove up the price. This is standard supply and demand stuff with not a whiff of collusion. (Plenty of stupidity and overreaction, though).
