So there's a beef shortage here in the US?
And the American beef ranchers can't make up the shortage?
And that drives the prices of beef up?
And to help the situation, Trump set up importing Argentenian beef to cover the shortage and lower and stabilize prices?
And American farmers are mad?
And the ranchers are already heavily subsidized in feed costs by our tax dollars and are afforded millions in other safety nets?
That is literally all I know about this.
What should Trump do here to stabilize the beef market? US producers don't seem to be able to fix it. So how does it get fixed?

Google says we do. Along with other protections to farmers.
I wonder if those safety nets kick in during shortages like these?
What would you do as POTUS here? Is there a better way to handle this shortage?

It seems like a lot of people believe this is a Trump caused issue. The truth is that there has been a war against the cattle industry since back when Oprah had a TV show. The liberals have been trying to kill the cattle ranches and like everything, it's a slow war they fight piece by piece until one day they get a big win they people don't see.
The big win came under the Biden fraud administration. They did everything in policy to make cattle ranching economically impossible. The Biden climate change policies created high inflation that dramatically impacted expense costs for ranchers and raised beef prices. Add drought that forced ranches to bring in more feed to maintain their herd sizes with no assistance from the Biden administration.
At the same time, the Biden administration was cozying up to alternative meat startups instead of helping ranchers.
This current cattle crisis was intentional by the liberals anti cattle ranching movement. They got the powers in the govt to do their bidding and now you see the impacts.
Herds were forced to be killed off due to the Biden inaction and intentional action to make sure they were killed off.

U.S. Cattlemen’s Association Statement on Proclamation on Beef Imports
Washington, D.C. — United States Cattlemen’s Association (USCA) is disappointed by President Trump’s order, signed yesterday, that temporarily eases tariffs on imported beef lean trimmings. USCA continues to warn that this kind of short-term “quick fix” is unlikely to bring down consumer prices in the near term but will instead leave American ranchers paying the price.
“Producers are already starting to feel the effects of this action in the markets this week—which were down across the board for multiple days. As we head into the time of year when herd-rebuilding decisions are made by many, we need stability and transparency,” said President Justin Tupper. “The biggest piece of the herd-rebuild puzzle is consistent market signals, ones that point to a profitable future for the American rancher in our own market. Agriculture and rural America are struggling for a number of reasons right now; the cattle industry was one of the few bright spots left, yet in just a few short days we have seen that progress effectively reversed.”
USCA is asking the Administration to reverse this order. “Our message to President Trump is constructive: there is still time to change course,” Tupper concluded. “We are ready to work with you on a plan where everyone wins and where America truly comes first.”

When the supply goes down the supply curve shifts up and left on the standard supply and demand graph. This causes it to meet the demand curve at a higher price and a lower quantity.

Fish comes from many different countries delivered on ice, if it's not frozen solid and it can be advertised as never Frozen same thing with a lot of chicken and beef and the same thing when you buy Butterball turkeys or any type of turkeys even if they say never fozen.
Wild salmon is only in season from June to September before Alaska freezes over. You're looking at sockeye, coho, keta. Then you have the farmed salmon that is open ocean farms from chile, sometimes Norway. And there are other options as well sometimes there are corporations that work in South Florida that sell Atlantic salmon inside their facilities therefore avoiding things like pollution, etc.

The reason we import seafood is because American fisherman cannot keep up with the demand especially with things like wild shrimp they just don't catch enough of it and if they did they would decimate and destroy the population.

Two of those companies are Brazilian the price of your beef literally gets decided in Rio de Janeiro. Ranchers get their cattle to sell let's say each head of cattle cost them $2,500, they only have four companies that will buy it and those companies will only offer $600 per head, you're going to go out of business as a rancher, the corporations make more profit than ever, and the consumer pays the price at the grocery store.

The administration first started this with a proclamation back in February of this year. That proclamation did the exact same thing this one does, but only called for 80,000 metric tons of lean trimmings to be impoted and was also only from Argentina. That original proclamation was titled "Ensuring Affordable Beef for American Consumers". The 80,000 mt was to be imported in 4 tranches of 20,000 mt each through December 31, 2026.
Now, we have an extension of that original proclamation that amounts to nearly 4 times the amount of the original proclamation at 300,000 mt that will be filled in three tranches of 100,000 mt each through November 30, 2026. This proclamation also opens the imports up to countries other than Argentina.
We are currently in the midst of the third tranche from the first proclamation that ends on September 30, 2026. The first tranche of the new proclamation opens on September 1, 2026. We will see 120,000 mt of lean trimmings (ultimately ground beef) brought to market from multiple countries, not just Argentina, in the next couple of months.
A difference in this new proclamation is that it specifically calls for the imported beef to be sold at a discounted rate lower than market rate. That was not in the original proclamation.
Now, we have an extension of that original proclamation that amounts to nearly 4 times the amount of the original proclamation at 300,000 mt that will be filled in three tranches of 100,000 mt each through November 30, 2026. This is a double-edged sword. The Jones Act saves American transportation jobs, but it costs American jobs in other sectors. An American manufacturer has to use more expensive American transportation, to ship from east to west coast for example, which makes him less competitive with his foreign competition.
