Did you ask these questions when mountains and streets and military bases and bridges were being renamed?
Nothing should be named after losers. So, all Confederate military officers are disqualified.
You don't win a war and put up the loser's flag. Same goes for the stars and bars.
We shouldn't be naming anything after any officers who fought in VietNam. That's some participation trophy crap there.

Should is different than could.
If you own it you're free to name it. I'm not big on confederacy crap, but if the state owns it, regardless of what I think they should do, it's ultimately up to them to do what they want.

To assert our will. Do you have a problem with that?
Well yes - Yes I do.
"asserting your will" over inconsequential bullshite is the mark of a bully.
I detest bullies.
So I am disappointed in any bully-like tendencies from a man who I admire above any non-relative in my lifetime.
I would just like for someone to ID what is the 'benefit' of doing this?? To me it is just dumb dumb dumb thing to do. It trivializes him. It gives opponents an undeniable item for them to demean his every other action as just "what bullies do."
There is ZERO gain from it.

Trump lost to a tard. At least he won so he can rename things in his name other than casinos or hotels he'll bankrupt.

I voted for Trump and I think he’s doing an amazing job considering the moment we find ourselves in as a nation and as a world.
Having said that, he has flaws. In other times, those flaws would be a bigger problem, but they are actually an asset in this political climate.
I’d prefer if Trump showed more humility and graciousness. The use of bully power tactics has its limits, even though it’s necessary at times.
This issue of renaming the GOM to the GOA is part of his strategy of recentering the power balance.
Yes, I said that right - RECENTERING the politics. For those familiar with the concept of the Overton Window, moving the window of acceptable topics of discussion is something the left has been consciously working at for decades.
They call it such things as, “Hope and Change”, “March through the Institutions”, and “Let us be unburdened by what has been instead of manifesting what can be”, etc.
They do it with manipulation of language, both implicitly, and explicitly. Examples include substituting “equality” with “equity”; changing the idea of racism as having something to do with power dynamics; interchanging group dynamics/characteristics with individual suffering, etc.
Changing the b in black to a capital B and keeping the w in white lower case. Yes, the left actually did that!
The recent iconoclasm instigated by the left in tearing down statutes of anyone they could find who offended their preferred narrative. “Dead white men” having anything to do with slavery or capitalism or colonialism or exploration, had to be taken down or replaced, was not just about so called social justice, but about shifting power. Notice that at the same time, images of George Floyd and activists, and rainbow flags, and the correct blacks (no Thomas Sowell, no Clarence Thomas, etc) were erected.
Trump is pushing back against this subversive power play by the left which had successfully convinced many Americans that the U.S. is nothing but oppressors and “people of color” (white’s not a color?) were nothing but helpless angels (so swing wide the border gates!!)
I see what Trump is doing. I like his intentions. I have two problems with it.
When done to an extreme, it undermines his power and credibility. Most people want to be and seem reasonable. (But maybe Trump knows better how far to push. We shall see, I guess.)
Secondly, there is a realm of the political right (for lack of better terminology) that is too extreme. There are those who simply relish power on the right, just as there is on the left. These people lack moral clarity. I’m not going to use the over-applied National Socialist term, but they were an example who let totalitarian power and axiomatic racist views take them quickly to an extremely evil place.
I think it would be wise for Trump to occasionally but a little water on that fire.

Just enjoy the complaints from the same people that said removing statues, changing the names of national parks, renaming military bases, etc. was no big deal and we should not complain about it.
Look you have to fight these communists assholes on EVERY LITTLE THING because despite arguments to the contrary the slippery slope is real.

It was an easy fun troll win. No need to be so serious all the time.
Now to a serious matter, it could be used to circumvent Bidens GoM drilling ban.
