Pass it when a democrat is in the white house. Currently the black vote is organized. So you have 1/3 of the vote currently out voting no on anything republicans want. Republicans will show up better when they’re unhappy

Anyone who leans left has been propagandized to believe that St. George is racist, so they vote no to stick it to whitey.

How did Zachary and Central succeed and St George fail?

Because they were a community long before they broke away. People across the state and parish recognized them as a community and voted for them. If Metarie or Prairieville tried to set up an independent school system it would likely pass. Why? Becauase across the state they are recognized unincorporated communities.

St George went from idea to "city" and skipped the whole community step.

Additionally voters are tired and don't trust politicians and their Amendments. These Amendments used to be rubber stamps now they are all failing.

Hell St. George should join ascension or Livingston instead

That would be hilarious. Truly secede/separate.

Does present an interesting question, could it seek to become a separate parish - which would automatically mean a school district

Go look at the map it's already there. Bodi White put this in for some reason and it was glossed over by everyone, but there is a political reason they went through the trouble to add that rat tail to the city map.

Central's rat tail to St George

Ascension voted the system down they don't want them. I think Livingston will pass it by a larger margin than St George proper.

This is the crux of the issue St George faces. The progressive assholes buy this hook line and sinker and will rush to white knight against the segregationists in St George.

It's not all progressives. 70% of the parish voted no. At this point I'm curious if the citizens of St George voted in favor of it. I think Livingston might be the only parish in the state that voted in favor of it.

They're obviously a bunch silent conservatives that realize that it will accomplish nothing but raise taxes.

Need to somehow get Trump to endorse it.

I don’t think this has anything to do with it. Progressives do not believe in any of the causes they “fight” for. They use their causes as propaganda.

This is about tax dollars. Nothing more, nothing less. EBR school funding would be decimated if this were to pass. If people think it’s bad now, wait til EBR is flat broke

My quick suggestion:

Set up a series of State charter, charter schools.

Independent of EBR and probably get you a lot of what you wanted.

Again, just thunck it up now so a grain of salt and all that.

Did they campaign statewide?

No, they didn't need to because they were recognized communities in the state. I would be willing to bet the vast majority of the voters in this state have never heard of St George.

EBR Parish voting for Senate-

Most votes Davis(Dem)
Second most Crockett (Dem)
Third most Cassidy
Fourth most Letlow
Fifth Fleming

I understand there were separate primaries, but EBR is a very blue parish and all the voters voted on the SG issue. SG never had a chance with this big of a liberal turnout.

Why is this a statewide vote? Seems like it will always fail if people that have no ties to it have to vote in it.

Not 70% blue. Maybe step out of your echo chamber and realize several conservatives think this is a bad idea as well.

Change the language of the proposed amendment to not creating a school district. People tend to vote no when they don't understand the lawyer speak.

This is what got me initially. I don’t live in EBR, so I was really confused as to why I had a vote on that. I understand now, but still believe only EBR parish should be voting on this. But, hey, I’m just a nobody with common sense.

FWIW, I did vote Yes

About 70% of the EBR voters did not vote for Letlow or Fleming.

No shite dumbass, but in a parish that is 55% registered Democrat 70% of the voters said this is a bad idea. Assuming straight party voting 15% or Republicans also said it's a shitty idea that will accomplish absolutely nothing but raise taxes!
