Trump is by far the most "right leaning" president we have ever had policy wise.
The people that "boo who" bc they don't like what he says are ridiculous.
He’ll admonish Trump for positions that are strongly conservative and then turn around and defend or argue in favor of positions held and pushed by the Democratic candidates that are so far away from libertarian principles that it is an amazing feat.
He tries to play the devil’s advocate like DisplacedBuckeye, but without the trolling insults.

Seriously, we have not HAD one that I would call libertarian. Reagan had a handful of libertarian views, but he was more a Main Street guy. Among CANDIDATES, Paul and Goldwater.
I didn't ask you who you would 'call libertarian.' I asked you who had more libertarian leaning policies than Trump.
Your answer is 'zero.' Thanks for proving my point.

Obama. Bought into his platitudinous rhetoric, thinking that he could heal longstanding racial divisions like no other. Figured that given such an extraordinary opportunity...he'd rise above his Rev. Wright/Black Liberation Theology bs and unite the Nation. Had never heard of Transnational Progressive back then; of the which he is full on.
The Left in a nutshell is Idealist; the 'weak' get a pass because their plight is mostly caused by the selfishness of the well off. Middle Class included. While it is true that economic desperation drives a lot of crime, being poor is no excuse or reason that a big % of people choose to be both. The day I hear honest and REALISTIC Leftist promise to require QUALIFIYING BEHAVIOR for those who demand the fruits of other people's extraordinary labor, is the day I'll again listen. No more *Obama* Leftist votes for me; "trust but verify". They've shown their true colors. Democratic Authoritarian Socialist...all out Fascist. Screw that.

I'm not old enough for there to have EVER been a time were voting for a Democrat was a sane choice. Had I been alive before FDR? Maybe

This was true in most of Texas when I was growing up, but that was some time ago. I am a bit surprised that there are still places where the GOP does not even TRY.
Where are you? (no need for specifics).
I grew up in Louisiana during the era of the "Tantamount" - where winning the DEMOCRAT primary was 'tantamount' to election - no opposition in the general.
I remember an uncle of mine who was a registered GOP - he said he finally change to DEMORCRAT because he had never had a chance to vote - GOP didn't even have primaries in LA

AggieHank (will) defend or argue in favor of positions held and pushed by the Democratic candidates that are so far away from libertarian principles that it is an amazing feat.
If you cannot link to me taking any such position (which you cannot), just describe it. I will gladly respond.
Instead, you will disappear.
This is the m.o. of the typical Trump sycophant on this forum. Claim that an opponent has said or done something that never occurred, then disappear when challenged.

I've stated here I voted Filth pretty much my entire life, capped off with voting for Hilldog in the 2008 primary.
At this point in my life, the only Democrat I can look back on and be proud that I voted for them was Kip Holden. All the rest were, and always will be, pure trash.

But the Dem party had two distinct wings ... liberal and conservative. You actually had to research which wing each candidate represented. I reached voting age as that era came to an end.
As an example, the last (and only) time I voted to send a Dem to DC was ... Phil Gramm. He resigned, changed parties and was re-elected as a Republican in a special election soon thereafter.

Not really. He is a New York business-friendly Democrat. Always has been and always will be. He just added some populist demagoguery to the act, like adding some gold-plate to a mediocre apartment unit, and a lot of people bought what he was selling.
So you’re still just describing who he is rather than looking objectively at what he’s enacted as a president.
I still find it hilarious you voted for McCain and Romney.

Larry Selders (D) is my state rep. I recently voted for him instead of the other Dem running against him, whose name escapes me.

We are derailing the thread.,,I will start one on this topic.

I’m a Republican who lives in New Orleans, so the most common reason for voting for a Democrat is that there is not a Republican on the ballot.

I have never voted for a democrat. I sat out the David Duke ordeal. I would not vote for Duke but wasn’t voting democrat. I have never and will not ever vote for a filthy fricking socialist democrat.

I can honestly (and proudly) say I voted against Roy Moore - and will again.

When I used to live in Cedric Richmond’s congressional district and the only choices were him and 1 or 2 other Dems.

The first time I voted for Buddy Roemer(?) I think he was still a democrat. We went to the same High School many years apart. He spoke at our graduation.

My friend ran for local judge position as a democrat and I voted for him.
He isn’t a democrat though, you have to run as a Dem in the delta to have any shot at winning

I am of the opinion that the only “wasted vote” is an unprincipled one. I knew Trump would win Texas, I voted third party anyway, because I think he acted like a jackass and I wish he had more decorum befitting of the President. I was a fan of an outside who spoke his mind being the President, but I think there’s a limit. I would never vote for Hillary, however, so I voted for Gary Johnson. Not that I need to explain to anyone my reasoning for my vote.
