Because I hope to make it to Heaven one day, and the the Democrat party has been taken over by pure evil. I can't think of a single macro or micro issue that they hold the moral high ground on.

When I registered to vote there were no computers. The woman at the Registrar of Voters Office filled out a long paper while I provided the answers. The last question was are you registering as a Democrat, Republican or Independent. She checked off Democrat without asking me which pissed me off. I told her I am registering Republican just to make her fill out the form again. I have been Republican since that day over 50 years ago. I have never voted Democrat in my life and vote straight line Republican every election.

What happens if they pretend to be republican to get elected, talk about conservative issues during elections, but then once elected start doing big government/leftist things?

But since you're trying to put words in my mouth, I'll go ahead and speak to the question of the thread. The truth is, I don't "vote Republican." At least, not for the sake of voting Republican. I've never voted for a Democrat, but I also don't consider myself a Republican. I've never labored under any delusion that we have a legitimate two party system. I see them as two sides of the same coin and I judge politicians by whether or not I find them to be honest or not, and I haven't found very many who are. Ever. I've sat out more elections than I've participated in.
