re: What if, Tactical Nuke on Kiev

The ultimate shot across the bow would be to use a low yield tactical nuke somewhere below optimal height for an EMP to cause minor blast damage (broken glass and scattered property damage) and power outages across Kiev. Maybe do it right after sunset to light up the city while people are still out to witness it.

I hope there are men in Putin’s regime who would prevent him pushing the nuclear button. Putin may be ready to die for his cause and take all of Russia with him but some of those around him may be more sane and wouldn’t want their loved ones to perish.
In any case, it’s reasonable to think that Russia’s nuclear capabilities were as adversely affected by a lack of attention and maintenance over the past 35 years as has been its military. I think we could withstand a nuclear exchange with them. They certainly would not.
The wild card, I think is Trump’s relationship with Putin. How deep is it? Is he as terrified of Putin as he seems to be? Would he chicken out again if Putin made a direct threat to the US?
We’ll see soon enough it seems. Ukraine isn’t about to lay down for Putin. Who knows what other sleeper cells they have ready to activate within Russia? This latest one was spectacular.

I can’t see him doing that because it will erase what legacy he has. He may be a bad guy but he has enough pride in his country to not do that to them.

there is no relationship. while trump likes to brag about how they're great pals, putin doesn't give a shite about trump. he'd snap trump's gobbler neck with his bare hands if need be. trump is completely overmatched

By who? The Ukes don't have nukes

The Chinese will use this as excuse to retake Haishenwai and move into Eastern Siberia as a pressure release valve to placate their population and bolster support for the CCP at a time when there is political uncertainty with Xi falling out of favor.
This would be a win-win for them as it gives them a political win without all of the negative consequences that come with a Taiwan invasion

This would be just another version of World War III. They'd nuke each other and we'd all die. They have strategic arms, tactical nukes are not the same thing. The Russians have long invested a lot in this area of their arsenal. They always planned on using them against NATO. Even at that time, we'd not hit them with ICBM as that's game over everyone loses. I think we underestimate their willingness to use them at our own peril. I think this is why putting the US into the kill Chain under Biden was very risky.

Russia would get tactical nuked off the face of the earth if they did that.

So you think Russia is just going to cease to exist without taking a number of countries with them including us ?
They already think nato encroachment is a threat to them and they won’t stand for it. Their view … Eff it … if they feel they have to go nuclear it won’t be regionally , it will be global .
Let’s just get on the da nang dick and miss Lindsey bandwagon and kick start this nuclear shite now and get it over with .

I don’t think dropping a nuke on Kiev would be considered a “tactical” move.

This like of thinking is so short sighted. The use of a nuclear weapon would have completely unpredictable consequences. The war could expand or in a worst case scenario provoke a nuclear response from other nations causing an all out nuclear war. No one wins in that scenario.

All those beautiful and unique buildings in Moscow? They would be gone.

Are they getting a 7 day notice to evacuate the city beforehand? Because otherwise, a spontaneous nuke of any city is gonna end badly.

No there would not be. We are not launching Nukes over Ukraine Obama already told you this. You think Trump would want his legacy to be a Nuclear War with Russia because of Ukraine? Ain't Happening
No kidding.
Do you fellas have any idea the power of the nuclear bombs in the modern era. Russia tested Tsar Bomba in 1951 it had 300 times the power of Little Boy we dropped on Hiroshima. Now we have multiple warheads on a rocket.
Something kicks off, we wouldnt know if our rockets ever hit because we would be long gone before they reached. And hiding under your elementary school desk aint gonna save you.
Oh they would never do that, our own friggin govt released a virus that killed millions, simply to win an election. You try and break Russia you dont think they would?

I've had fear that they would pull that trigger long before now, sort of amazed they have not.
I would be amazed if they did it. That would trigger the West giving at least tactical nukes to Ukraine, and committing to a large scale, long term plan for overthrowing Putin via a military operation. In short, I think that would be the end of Putin. Trump would be impeached by the House and convicted by the Senate if he did not get on board with that plan. The overall sentiment in America would be about 85% in favor. I think Trump would immediately give a “This will not stand” speech and commit himself to overthrowing Putin.
