What happens when AI kills? Now we know... it contributed to the school deaths in Iran

Already, too much trust in AI --
Back in February, two Tomahawk missiles hit Shajarah Tayyebeh Elementary School in the southern Iranian town of Minab on the opening day of the Iran war. The blasts killed more than 150 people, including at least 123 children.
Earlier reporting already pointed to outdated targeting data and raised questions about whether artificial intelligence had a role in the mix-up. And now, a Bloomberg investigation published Friday fills in more of the story, citing officials involved in an unreleased internal Pentagon review. Those officials said some Pentagon personnel knew within hours that the United States had hit the school, and they described a cascade of preventable failures that included an overreliance on an AI tool built by Palantir.
[It wasn't the only reason... and everyone is trying to avoid blame but it was still one of the great tragedies of this conflict]

Welp, kids died. That means we have to give up on the most powerful technology ever invented and fall behind. It's the only logical solution.

My understanding every single target was reviewed. We had bad information in that instance.
What would lead to the presumption that non-AI assisted targeting would have somehow recognized the erroneous information in this singular sortie out of >10,000 flown?

When Elon Musk did an interview with the Financial Times a few weeks ago he predicted an AI Golden Era. Musk has also said on numerous occasions that AI could potentially be used by bad actors to commit all sorts of chaos, destruction and mayhem. TBD.

Nope - nor did it pull the trigger.
My only note was it is that it happened, and we often trust computers (and now AI) too much.
The vendor said it was 'garbage in / garbage out' -- that their system does provide the 'data', just the analysis.
Well apparently, there was inconsistency with data provided:

Yeah people don't seem to understand that we're on an irreversible path. There's no putting the djinn back in its vessel at this point, and the event horizon has been crossed.
AI is the future and is now being used to make itself better. Whoever wins the AI race is going to rule the world. Watch China, because they're embracing it and doing things that the general public in America cannot even dream of because we're too busy resisting it and the government wants to keep it to themselves and the big tech corporations.
We're more than likely going to be subjugated by AI at some point in the near future but you have to ask if you would rather it be our AI or the AI developed by Chini or the Jeets or someone else. We don't know what our own AI will do to us, but we can look at what the Chinese do to the Uyghurs and get a pretty solid idea of how their AI will treat us. Chini, since Mao and even before, has made no effort to hide their intentions to rule the world in its entirety. And while they're spending a third of what the US spends per student, they're producing a veritable army of genius kids to handle the future while we in the USA are producing almost nothing but "teen takeover" crowds and morons.
Prognosis: bleak.

Know what contributed to it more? The Iranians building a military base surrounding the school so they could use kids as human shields.
