What grade do you folks give Trump on the whole America 250 celebration?

Starting from the very first event back earlier in the year until tonight?

I think everything was fantastic until tonight. I was very disappointed in his speech. It wasn’t a bad speech it just didn’t meet the moment in my opinion. This is the 250th birthday of the United States. We needed more of a Reagan style speech. We needed to hear about the Shining City on the Hill. Instead we got more of a rally style speech at times. This speech would have been great last year or next year. All the ingredients were there with all the flags and the vets coming out. The speech itself was not that great for this night and this moment in time and history.

What may have been worse than the speech though was the song selection during the fireworks show. That song list felt more like a New Years Eve selection of songs than a 4th of July selection of songs. Especially for the 250th birthday. We get this awesome and amazing fireworks display. Then we gets a set of songs that such for this night and this moment in time and history. I think I heard 1 somewhat patriotic song and that was Toby Keith. It’s not like there aren’t a whole lot of patriotic songs out there of all genres to choose from. That fireworks display was awesome but could have been next level awesome with a better playlist.

Overall America 250 has been a great success in my view but if you fix those two problems I just talked about and America 250 would have been a total touchdown. Instead it just feels like a a touchdown with a missed extra point. We don’t get moments like this to celebrate as a country. We have a lot of young people that believe in socialism and communism. They don’t feel patriotic about the country. This was a chance to maybe push a few people back in the right direction and be proud of the country. It just kinda feels like we may have missed a chance to impact a few lost people because a little was left laying on the table. I would grade everything overall a B minus. All this has been good but I was hoping for that little extra so more people that may not be proud of the country might catch the fever again. Tonight was awesome for people that believe in the United States but I don’t think it will sway anyone else.

Why would we need to “sway” anyone when America is turning 250? If they need swayed, they need to get the frick out.

I don’t think I would be near as critical if the commies were not banging at the gates. It’s hard to compete for the hearts and minds of people that are weak minded to start and then have a bunch of idiots come in offering them free stuff. Especially when a lot of these people have never been taught to love the country in the first place. Young people have really been failed in this department. I know most of these people can’t be helped but there still may be a few of the younger people out there that might yet be reached. America 250 was a chance to maybe reach a few that still haven’t went all in on the socialism/communism madness. I had high expectations for tonight and was hoping Trump could squeeze out every last drop of patriotism he could tonight.

250 was probably not as big of a deal as 200, though it should be. People 10-20 years younger than me likely won’t experience the tricentennial, so we really should play it up every 50 years. Seemed like the bicentennial was about a 3 year lead up. That being said, I give Trump the following:

I was born in late 1976 so I missed the bicentennial. Trump is more than capable of delivering a Reagan style speech. I just think America 250 called for one of those type of speeches like Reagan used to give. Reagan kind of knew what the country needed to hear. One of the best speeches that Reagan ever gave was after the Challenger exploded. He knew the country was mourning and grieving and he needed to give a speech that reflected that feeling. He knew the country was in shock at that time. It’s why they called him The Great Communicator. Trump can speak like that when he wants. He just didn’t do it in his speech earlier in my opinion. Like I said we got more of a campaign rally style speech when we needed a speech with more heart and feeling.

How wonderful to see these glowing, high marks for the celebration. What a fantastic administration that can coordinate fireworks, flyovers, and speeches.

Perhaps they will now spend some time thinking about the state of the economy, pollution, graft and corruption in the administration, and the incessant lies and gaslighting to make Orange Ozymandius think he is incapable of anything wrong.

It was perfect. It was all much more than I expected and will be a benchmark that will be hard to beat.

Thank you, President Trump!????????

A+, only because there isn't anything higher! The G.O.A.T. was there for this special occasion because of God's grace. Who can't see that Trump loves this country, is either blind or just plain hateful!

I think the videos of Europeans visiting for the World Cup has helped and the Europeans suffering in the heat helped. Little reminders of why we wanted independence from England and did not want to be like Europe.

Because the left is constantly at war with normal Americans. Trump gave the left what it deserved, and we normal Americans could not have been happier.

I will give it a B- as I think the marketing was lack luster. The govt has enough money to full press it to the point the MSM can't hide it, but that wasn't done. Only big thing talked about was the MMA fight, but that's because it gave the MSM something to counter with.

I didn't hear that the DC was expected to be the "biggest fireworks show in the history of the world " until this past week.

The marketing from the Right is always lackluster and doesn't get to the people it needs too.

To do what? The people on the left - (registered democrats, Democrat socialist, communist, etc.) aren’t going to be swayed. It’s clear they don’t like our history and want to fundamentally change this country forever. There is no effective chance at “unity.”

With you here. 2 of 10.

He's not the only one to promote himself (it has to be done on occasion) but he does it ALL the time and at the worst times unfortunately.

Not sure why you expect this from Trump. There’s nobody currently in politics that can do this
