Instead we got more of a rally style speech at times.

I don’t know why anybody would expect anything different.

Then we gets a set of songs that such for this night and this moment in time and history. I think I heard 1 somewhat patriotic song and that was Toby Keith. It’s not like there aren’t a whole lot of patriotic songs out there of all genres to choose from. That fireworks display was awesome but could have been next level awesome with a better playlist.

In defense of this, according to the schedule I saw, the military bands were supposed to have a patriotic music concert sometime before the President’s speech but was axed due to the weather situation. I thought the military singers were great, and I’m glad they got to show their chops on a national stage vs. a bunch of spoiled celebrities who put their personal politics before patriotism.

I thought as far as Trump’s speeches go, it was great. Look, Trump is Trump. His speeches have always been the way they are, and if you expect him to come out and suddenly sound like Roosevelt, Churchill, Kennedy, or Reagan you’ll be disappointed every time.

Just roll with it, baw. I was pretty pumped after it was over and had to read awhile to wind down and go to sleep. Yesterday was a great day. God Bless the United States of America!

I think it's important to understand the difference between "America 250" and "Freedom 250" before attempting to assign a grade.

America 250 was started by the United States Semiquincentennial Commission Act on July 22, 2016 as Public Law 114 - 196; yes, signed by Obama.

https://america250.org/

Over 10 years and several administrations, America 250 was planned and developed.

The first Trump administration gets credit for allocating / earmarking funds for the celebration. The Biden administration gets credit for adding to those original allocations and additional planning.

Under the second Trump administration, the One Big Beautiful Bill of 2025 allocated $150 million for events, celebrations, and activities surrounding the observance and commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

Freedom 250 was launched in 2025.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/freedom250/

https://www.freedom250.org/

Within the last year, America 250 reported that it received about $25 million in funding.

Some Democrats express concerns about America 250 funds being diverted to Freedom 250. Some Republicans express concerns about how the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission was planning to use / manage funds.

As usual, Republicans and Democrats both continue to disappoint.

Apologies for any specific inacurracies in my comments, but I believe my overall summary is generally correct.

Good stuff. I DID enjoy celebrating Independence Day, despite the polarization.

I was hoping it would be an A++ merely because of how much it was preemptively triggering the liberals.

It ended up being an A+++ because Trump truly knows how to celebrate with honor and style, and it ended up merely being lagniappe that the libs were extraordinarily triggered.
